Using American Odds any +ve number if the amount won per 100 bet while any -ve number is the stake required to win 100.
European odds, that you refer to, are almost always easier to use than American odds fo complex calculations. The sole advantage of American odds is their ease in calculating buy back on the other side for a guaranteed profit.
