Casey Kelly - SS - Red Sox

Red Sox signed 2008 first-round pick Casey Kelly.

The Red Sox apparently prefer Kelly as a pitcher, while he wanted to be an everyday player, so it looked like he might be one of the tougher signs of the first round. However, a deal is done now and he'll report to the GCL next week. Speculation last month was that he'd play shortstop initially and then perhaps transition to the mound in the instructional league in October. Jul. 17
