| 'Oral-Me' Toothpaste May Be Banned In Malaysia A Malaysian-made toothpaste named Oral-Me has been raising eyebrows in the country as a major consumer group slammed the brand for being 'pornographic'. The toothpaste, which has just recently entered the local market, has already been tagged 'crude' for its curious name, but it may soon be banned in the country. "It's crude. It sounds like a statement more than anything else. Manufacturers should think twice before naming their products," Melissa Leong of one consumer group tells a paper. While research officer of 'Consumers Association of Penang', Hatijah Hashim, says the name carries a pornographic connotation: "It should not be allowed in the market. I wonder what the people in charge had in mind when they came up with the name." However, makers of the toothpaste have defended the name, saying it was merely to connect the product to oral care. |
