Fans Setup Jamie Lynn Spears Abortion Fund:
An 'abortion fund' has been setup by fans for 'Zoey 101' star Jamie Lynn Spears. The group says Jamie Lynn is too young to be pregnant at just 16, and they would like to help her in getting an abortion. They claim it would be the 'right' and 'responsible' thing to do. And hope to raise up to $750 to make this a reality. Are they unaware she received $1 million from 'OK' magazine for the exclusive story on her pregnancy? Sure, some of this may be tongue-in-cheek but the group is truly accepting donations, so one wonders what they'll actually do with any money collected since Jamie Lynn certainly doesn't need it. Meanwhile the debate is still a hot topic and Froma Harrop, who writes a nationally syndicated column, has upset pro-lifers by commenting that Jamie Lynn Spears' had many 'options' and her mother should "have helped Jamie Lynn quietly end the pregnancy." This prompted an angry rebuttal from William L. Goode, a columnist at 'The Daily Advertiser', in Lafayette: "The words flowed so smoothly, so easily, kind of like 'she could have worn brown instead of blue.' It made my blood run cold to think that our society has devolved to the point where, for personal/political/business expediency, anyone can, without any apparent moral implication, 'end the pregnancy'. Thank goodness Jamie Lynn Spears did not take that "option." |

My kids watch this show...Zoey 101. I do not want my 9 and 10 year olds to continue watching this show, and think it's ok for a 16 year old to get pregnant and everything will be fine. I think she should be fired from the kids line-up on Nickelodeon. They should end her career as a idol to these kids.

As for ending the pregnancy, I am not a supporter of abortion. However, in some cases, I think you should have the right to choose.

Hi Devilwoman,
In your opinion, would this be one of those cases where "the right to choose" comes into play? If so, could you give two examples where the right to choose should not be a consideration? |

No this is not one! She did this to herself, it is her time to grow up and raise a child! Now on the other hand...had her daddy raped her and she became pregnant...in that case she should have the right to choose not to have her daddy's rape baby. |

Kids will always learn and see stuff we wish they didn't. At least watching it on tv, side by side with them it opens up valuable lines of communication on a subject that many do not discuss. For that, I say, leave it on and deal with it.

The problem with this philosphy is that on shows like this everything works out in 30 minutes. In real life everything does not work out in 30 minutes

true, but at the same time with the way these shows are meant to be so materialistig and glamourize everything, doubtful it would work.
