So Andrew, please stop stirring trouble and just leave. You're really an institigator and nothing more. Your presence here has made the thread smell....yuck...

Call me paranoid IDIOTITY

but at 06-10-07, 07:32 PM gmt you start this ridiculous thread and guess what ?

all of a sudden a newbie reports a problem with our new sponsor at 06-11-07, 01:06 AM gmt,

http://forums.eog.com/online-sportsb...com-90003.html

this is a book that few regulars seem to know.

http://forums.eog.com/online-sportsb...ing-89777.html

no big surprise that successful people make less successful people jealous and that recently there have been a few very clued up new members complaining about another book.

are you still with me so far?

i'm not pointing fingers IDENTITHING

but i have a scenario for you as a player to consider ok?

now as a supposed player, if you had a genuine gripe would you be happy to wait for EOG's help 'cos they are dealing with a bogus complaint?

you're a bright person allegedly, so try and make the connection.

Sorry it took almost two pages ID, but the truth is anyone who knows what it is worth sure as hell ain't telling you or any of us in a public forum. In any case almost every single website, either informational or operational, that gets sold is sold for a very low multiple of what money it is bringing in. Before the UIGEA casino and sports betting sites were in some cases selling for 1-2 times their annual profits. I had one offered to some investors I work with for less than what the site pulled in during the previous 12 months. The ownership was well aware that when they sold they probably would take some of the cream with them and the new owners would be stuck with a lot of crap.

Bottom line is these sites are never protected from competition and need endless streams of promotion to maintain their revenues. Very few people will get and stay rich in the internet age by building something valuable and then trying to milk it for what it is worth. Smart people in the internet world build something, sell it near its peak earning capacity, then move onto the next project. Just ask Shrink

You make some pretty good points here.

I think that anyone who sells a site that large at this point and time is either really desperate for money, or insane. I don't think the market can go down any farther, and if anything positive comes out of congress the value of such a huge site would skyrocket.

In terms of content, number of users, age of the domain, inbound links, etc. etc., the site would be worth at least a couple hundred thousand.

My 119k figure was a joke, but I'd be willing to pay 119k for MW if I had the money and the site was for sale.

I often disagree with you, WB, and show no reticence in posting my differing opinion, so I thought I would express my agreement for a change.

Identity is not as stupid as she seems(no one could be!)...she knows the Devil posts here but he did not take the bait, he told her to email the
owner(s) of MW and ask him/them how much MW is worth. The Devil got out of MW at precisely the right time and while I don't know the facts about how much compensation he received, I think it is safe to say that he received 6 figures! I'm surprised the Major didn't get a better no compete clause in the agreement though as the Devil posting here is clearly, albeit a subtle effort to undermine MW in general, and the Major specifically.
