Tommy Haas had troubles yesterday against american Vincent Spadea who won the first set and had a break lead in the second set. Haas came behind and took the last set with nice numbers.

Nicolas Mahut had an amazing grass season but after that he injured his back. Now it seems his back is fine because he played a challenger last week where he lost in the final against Olivier Rochus. On the first round he won hard hitting Zack Fleishman.

They have played one match before on the hardcourt 2006 at Indianapolis on the third round when Mahut won 6-4, 7-5.

Haas was playing in his country's Davis Cup team against Russia and he might be tired and not fully intrested in the tournament.

Mahut on the other hand wants to show again how good his serve-volley game is when he is fully fit so I think he is more motivated to this match than Haas is. Both are very attacking players and that makes the match probably a match with few breaks but Haas faces 11 breakpoint attemps against Spadea which is much, he saved 9 of them which was good for him but no so good considering this match.
