MLB
Jimmy Rollins might have broken foot
Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins may have something seriously wrong with that left ankle that has is supposedly just sprained. Word is it’s actually broken, which would take him out of commission for four to six weeks. (Off the Record)

Thomas considering A’s and mystery team
Former Toronto Blue Jays DH Frank Thomas was supposedly about to sign with Oakland yesterday but then another team (Seattle? Texas?) came calling. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire has made it clear it is not his team. (Yahoo! Sports)

Pirates could buy out Matt Morris
The Pirates aren’t planning to buy out struggling starter Matt Morris just yet, but the thought has crossed the team’s mind and it’s willing to do it to any of its players, team president Frank Coonelly said. Morris has a $10,037,283 salary this year and a $1 million buyout of his 2009 option, all of it guaranteed. Of course he also has a 0-3/9.15 ERA record this year as well. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

Dodgers and Castro have mutual interest
Utility guy Juan Castro is being chucked aside by the Cincinnati Reds and it appears that the Dodgers, where Castro began his life in the bigs as a shortstop prospect, have interest in grabbing him back up. Other teams are said to be interested but word is that Castro favors the Dodgers over the rest. Does this mean sayonara to L.A. backup Chin-lung Hu? (Los Angeles Daily News, scroll down)

Corpas out as Rockies closer?
Rockies closer Manny Corpas has blown two saves in two days and four so far this year. It’s looking pretty good that manager Clint Hurdle is going to remove him from that role and is likely to give Brian Fuentes a turn in the spot. (Rotoworld)
