There are a lot of differing opinions about Coach Knight. Seems a love or hate type guy.
Care to share your feelings? |

I love the guy! He made sure his crew new the meaning of the word Team. I approach it like this:
Parents today are so against smacking their kids that now they use the "Time Out Chair". We need more coaches like Bobby Knight (throwing the time out chair) keeping these kids grounded and making them respect the game and others. BD |

One of the greatest coaches of all time, I'm not sure how that can be argued against. How he relates to his players may offend some, but not me. You know what you get when you decide to play for him so players can't be shocked by his antics. I think this has affected the talent that he has been able to recruit lately as this new generation doesn't want to put up with him. Some of his press conferences have provided the best clips in CBB over the past 15 years.

I am a huge Knight fan. I am a little biased growing up in Bloomington in the late 80's early 90's so take it for what it's worth. I went to his basketball camp when I was in High School.
I agree with you guys that he demands respect. He has made some questionable decisions but that's how he was, is and always will be. If young(er) people had more respect for others today he would be fine. I think that it's his way or the highway and most "kids" are all about "me." Address elders with "sir' and "ma'am" and shut your traps so you can listen and things would be a lot better for everyone. |

I am a real passionate Coach Knight fan as I too grew up just down the highway from Bloomington. I root against Indiana now and hope they have nothing but bad luck in all aspects of athletics. Before some possibly come to the IU rescue, I don't care. That is my opinion and I am entitled to it. I respect other views and that is just the way the mop flops.

Those who demand respect should also show respect. I'll say no more because I was raised that " if you can't say something nice about somebody, don't say anything at all".

Coach Knight is a great coach and great teacher. The problem I see
with him is that he can't get the top players anymore. The kids today don't want to play in a structured offense. They want to run up and down the floor and score. This in my opinion is why his teams have been mediocre lately. This is not a knock on Bobby, its just the way it is. I have been a Bobby Knight fan for yrs since the 70's. I have seen him do some great things with kids that wern't MacDonalds All Americans. When he was getting blown out in the Championship game in 1987 against Syracuse he kept fouling the Orangemen who couldn't shoot foul shots and he won at the Buzzer. That was a game that Syracuse clearly had won. The fundamentals of basketball, playing defense, rebounding and making foul shots won that Championship. |

I just seen a ESPN commercial and Coach was promoting a car or something. He got mad and picked the chair up and threw it off stage. ![]() FUNNY CHIT. The great coach is making bucks from the chair throwing incident. It seems ESPN loves (adores) the man. |
