Forget about last year. For this group of previously successful teams, the 2009 season could bring drastically different results. These former contenders might even be getting bowl dates before New Year's Day or Christmas. Think that's too dire a prediction for teams we've crowned champs? Better to prepare yourself now, then, as this year will be undoubtedly shaky for these 10 teams. Fans will have some Cinderella-level disappointment coming to them when the clock strikes 12 and their team's carriage to victory turns into a pumpkin. Lisa Horne" 10 - Utah 9 - USC 8 - Penn State 7 - Maryland 6 - Alabama 5 - Florida State 4 - Texas Tech 3 - Missouri 2 - Cincinnati 1 - Georgia Bleak '09 for these 10 college football teams

Just what doyou consider "bleak"? A W/L record similar to what Tennessee will produce this year? Or do you think that Tennessee will beat both Alabama and Georgia? Try to be a bit more specific so we have a clue as to what you are talking about. Also try giving some reasons why you think things will be so bleak. Your personal opinion doesn't count. Give us some logical reasonong behind this post, or just drop it. Any loser can make a statement and then run away from it, as I am sure you are used to by now.

Hey guys, no need for the harshness and bickering between all of us. We all have our favorite teams and want the best for them. Let's look forward towards the season getting started and help everyone here find winners. Way too early for all this nonsense. I know KTB and I have had some words, but enough is enough. As he pointed out to me, if you don't like what's being said in his thread, stay out, which I would expect the same out of him. Time is coming to make money in foots, we have some solid guys in this area so let's take advantage of it. ![]()

All I want to know is exactly what he considers "bleak". Is it differing amounts of wins for each team? Is it not winning the N.C.? Is it not winning your Conference? Certainly those are legit questions, arn't they Crazy?

| KT...I would have to say the girl who wrote this is off base on many of the teams. As stated above USC, PSU and maybe GA will have 10 or 11 wins. Bama should have at least 9. The story was written by a female reporter who seems a bit off with some of her reasoning.

PennSt? according to the story they could go 12-0 and that would be a down year for the Lions ![]() Fully agree with Missouri and looking forward to going against them in their opener against Illinois

I would have to agree about PSU....PSU should be undefeated come season end but I would not under any circumstances put them into a national title game. They are going out of there way to schedule very easy out of conference games. College football is all about schedule, since there is no playoff and 11-13 total games get played each year per team to prove to the BCS how good/bad you are as a team. PSU's out of conference games include temple, syracuse, akron, and eastern illinois. I'm not sure even the biggest PSU fans can rationalize playing an out of conference schedule like this one. PSU should be favored in all of there games this season, they get OSU at home and michigan who they have had big problems with prior to last year, still should have a down year. I believe the toughest part of the schedule will be against Illinois as it is being played in champaigne, Illinois and it will be the weekend right after the Iowa game, and I would expect somewhat of a hangover against Illini. Also, the illini have a great WR in Benn and PSU will be having problems in the secondary all year with what they lost this offseason.

UGA is overrated every year...they lost their entire O...staff and moreno. Alabama has NO QB with exp and have nov qb on D...also for Alabama to win 9 games this year with their schedule and expectations after last year would be a huge disappointment to bammers. again. Little Daddy your a pos and would not take the bet like a man when you spoke about it so I am through with a little baby whiny internet wanna be tough guy like you.

USC - Bleak? Make me laugh! Bleak as far as they will NOT compete for the mysthical B(C)S Title but they WILL win the Pac 10 and play in the Rose Bowl for the umpteenth straight year

For those who do not know, UGA returns their entire starting offensive line. They play a bunch of wimps in the SEC, like Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vandy, and Auburn. They should be able to win 9 games this season, which is what they did last year. Show me where that is a big let down. Penn State plays exactly one tough away game and two tough home games. That is it. Period. No exceptions. They get Ohio State at home, which is going to be tough. They also play Iowa at home, after 3 cream puffs. A revenge game for Penn State, this is very winnable. They also play Michigan State on the road, their final game of the season. I may have more on the Iowa games when it rolls around. Alabama could have the best defense in the SEC. 9 starters return. Their problem will be on the other side of the ball, where they have to develop a running game. The question is who do they lose to? They play the wimps of the SEC East, at home against South Carolina and Tennessee, and at Kentucky. They also get LSU at home. Their first game against Va.Tech ('Bama -4) should tell us a lot.

| That Bama VT game should be a very good game. Bama is starting with a new QB and a rebuilt O Line. You know Bud Foster will run every conceivable Blitz package (both run blitz and pass blitz) at them through out the game. I think a turnover or special teams play will decide this game. One team will cough it up in FG range or a blocked punt and that will do it. I may have to look hard at VT +3.5 or more.

VT run game will be strong...if mount cody can't stop middle due to schemes then bammer in for long day... if VT can get him tired and pound run VT has shot..I think bammer wins by 3 in very low scoring game
