Default Tony Franklin fitting in nicely at Auburn

word on the plains is the players are really into the up-tempo offense. we were terrible in scoring offense last year, so hopefully he can help us in that regard. kodi burns has been looking good in practices...i thought the juco transfer Todd might beat him out for the QB job this spring, but it isn't looking that way.

really looking forward to the '08 season! War Eagle!

Hey pipe, You mean Auburn's already started spring practice? I didn't think teams started 'til April or later, but wtf do I know?

Jeez pipe, just checked out the Spring practice sched at ESPN and I was shocked at how stupid I am. Auburn started on 28 Feb. Texas began on 22 Feb!!! Always thought spring meant Spring.

Franklin is a good coach (not a great mastermind) who was at Troy.
Great coaches are not at Troy...and I don't mean that in a bad way.

Auburn will always win with DEFENSE, at least as long as Tommy Tubs
is coach.

I think he's a great coach who wound up at Troy because he got a reputation as a "rat" when the Kentucky probation scandal occurred. Larry Blakeny, Troy's head coach, is also really talented...but he got a bad rap when the Auburn "Eric Ramsey" scandal broke in '92.

Troy is a good "second chance" university. Time will tell if Franklin has the chops.

Pipeline, I'm all Bama was hoping Tubbs would go to Arkansas or Texas
A&M or somewhere. Hell, he has owned us....I for one think he is a good
coach that many Auburn fans don't appreciate.

He hires good people and for any CEO that is the key. Franklin will be
a positive for Tigers but Tommy will always emphasis defense..thats his
backgound for success. Been pretty damn successful at it at Auburn.

we're really banged up at rb this spring. i'm hoping the lack of reps isn't going to hurt us. to be honest, i'm petrified of this season.

no longer scared after seeing our offense in action in the spring game last week. running backs need to get healthy but Franklin will have us like a machine by august.

Pipeline, you better find a quarterback before you get to excited
about this offense. Right now, neither of these QB's are ready to
face tough SEC defenses.

I'm just hoping to avoid a dual qb system. I hate those.

Pipeline, you guys are going to have another good team for 2008. That
defense looks to be solid again. If the D can play tough until the QB
settles in.....Tigers will make some noise this season.

Hogman, Pipeline is the Auburn man....I'm Bama even though my sister
went to Auburn. I pull for both of them until they play each other.

For you question.....Tigers have 9 on offense and 7 on defense. Last
season Tubbs played 29 freshmen (15 true freshmen and 14 redshirt
freshmen). Pretty good foundation for coming season. Three frost
started on the O-Line.

Quarterback is the big issue along with how new O-coordinator can
handle SEC defenses.

You hit the nail on the head. What impresses me is Tubs ability to make the transition from a vanilla offense to the new spread offense - a complete 180 degree turn. Still look for the defense to carry the load early.

Also hit the nail on the head. Blakeny sent to purgatory in Troy but seems to like it and has really built that program up into something.

Pipeline, I'm so Goddamn mad about a sillyass poster in another sport
that I'm venting on your space.

You keep me posted on the Tigers...I'll keep you updated on the Tide.

Run like an SOB if you here a pick from Chuckluck.

Wanted to post a concern about Auburn's post spring depth chart. OK at corner but in trouble at the safety positions. Could be an issue.

Strong safety
4 Zac Etheridge (5-11, 206, So.)
11 Mike Slade (6-2, 189, RFr.)

Free safety
26 Mike McNeil (6-2, 201, So.)
17 Jonathan Vickers (6-2, 216, Sr.)
Left cornerback
8 Jerraud Powers (5-9, 188, Jr.)
25 Ryan Williams (5-11, 204, So.) Right cornerback
2 Aairon Savage (5-11, 190, Jr.) --OR--
6 Walter McFadden (6-0, 180, Jr.)
