	Speaking on WEEI this morning, Bill Belichick said that Laurence Maroney will be "close" to healthy for the starting of training camp. You know it's a relaxed time of year in the NFL when Belichick starts handing out injury updates. "He's worked extremely hard this offseason. I'm sure he'll be ready to go. What the exact time will be, we'll wait and see how that comes along. But I'm sure he'll be ready to go." Maroney is getting drafted as a late-first round pick in most leagues. Source: Boston Globe

Laurence Maroney wasn't on the camp-PUP list the Patriots released Tuesday.
A great sign that he's ready to go. The work done on his shoulder this offseason (rumored to be two procedures) is a concern, and the Patriots will be careful to not overwork him. He is a risk as a mid-first round pick, but makes sense at the end of the round. Jul. 25 - 8:53 a.m. ET

	The Boston Herald reports Laurence Maroney (groin) is shaping up to be a game-time decision on Monday night. We never saw Maroney get hurt during last week's game and he was present for the media portion of practice all week. But the Herald reports that some around the team thought Maroney might be downgraded to out. Have Sammy Morris, Kevin Faulk, or Kenny Watson on stand by if at all possible. 	ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports Laurence Maroney will start Monday night. Sammy Morris will come off the bench, and continue to be a threat for goal-line carries. Maroney remains an excellent play in the matchup against a Bengals defense that will likely be without its two top middle linebackers (Ahmad Brooks and Caleb Miller) and was already porous defending the run.

Maroney's status will probably come down to a game-time decision again. The Patriots head to Dallas for a late afternoon game, and Maroney would only be worth waiting for if you had Sammy Morris or another serviceable fill-in option. 	ESPN's John Clayton reports Laurence Maroney "should be set to go" against the Cowboys in Week 6. The Boston Globe reports Maroney "looked to be moving well" while participating in passing drills Thursday. Dallas' run defense is ranked seventh in the NFL, and though that may be due in part to teams trying to play catch up against the Cowboys, it's a solid run defense overall. The Pats face Dallas in an afternoon game, but Maroney is worth waiting for after this news if you can use him as a flex or RB2. Source: Boston Globe

The Patriots call Maroney "questionable" for this week. Maroney has been practicing in a limited fashion for the last three weeks now, so nothing has really changed this week except ESPN's John Clayton predicted he would play Thursday. 	The Boston Herald reports that the "smart money" is on Laurence Maroney (groin) playing Sunday afternoon against Dallas. The paper speculates that the Patriots have been extremely cautious with him "because they can." Maroney spoke with reporters Friday, and usually doesn't talk during the weeks he's not expecting to play. He was also running routes in practice without a noticeable limp. Ravens coach Brian Billick confirmed Thursday that Todd Heap (hamstring) is unlikely to face the Bills in Week 7.

Blocking second-year tight end Quinn Sypniewski will start for Baltimore. The Ravens may sign Lee Vickers from the practice squad to provide depth. The team goes on a bye in Week 8, and Heap should return to action after that. Oct. 18

		The Boston Herald reports that it looks like there is a "good chance" Laurence Maroney (groin) will be out again Sunday. On the other hand, ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports Maroney is expected to play. If the newspaper is correct, Kevin Faulk will likely get the bulk of the workload in New England's backfield, with Heath Evans possibly the favorite for goal-line carries and Kyle Eckel in the mix.
