First-rounder Peterson won't undergo surgery
Adrian Peterson - RB - MIN - May. 16 - 3:29 p.m. ET
The Vikings announced Wednesday that Adrian Peterson will not undergo surgery on the collarbone he re-injured in January's Fiesta Bowl.
The decision was made after tests showed his collarbone is healing well on its own. Peterson was a full participant at the Vikings' first minicamp and according to team doctors, will be a full-go for training camp in late July. Surgery would've required a three-to-six month recovery period.

Adrian Peterson - RB - Vikings

Coach Brad Childress said Monday that the Vikings will continue to split carries between Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor.
Peterson had 21 touches while turning in a record day Sunday, while Taylor touched the ball 22 times, and Childress said that type of split will continue going forward. Imagine the type of numbers that Peterson could be putting up without Taylor (and Childress) around to steal his carries. Oct. 16

Childress: Peterson's role will increase
Adrian Peterson - RB - MIN - Oct. 25 - 4:16 p.m. ET
Brad Childress says that Adrian Peterson's workload "will increase as we go through the rest of the football season."
Music to Peterson's owners ears. It's uncertain if he'll replace Chester Taylor as a starter, but Peterson should start to get more carries than the veteran. Peterson is on pace for 288 carries, but he's averaging only 14.6 carries-per-game when Taylor is healthy.

Adrian Peterson - RB - Vikings

Adrian Peterson reportedly said in an interview with CBSSports.com that coach Brad Childress named him the Vikings' Week 8 starter on Wednesday.
Peterson reportedly added that he anticipates being "the starter from now on." We can't find the article on CBS' website, but the apparent depth chart change isn't related to Chester Taylor's groin injury, according to Peterson. Taylor will remain in the backfield mix either way, but gaining the starting job would be a significant upgrade for Peterson's fantasy value. Oct. 26 - 6:06 p.m. ET

Adrian Peterson - RB - Vikings

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune doesn't dispute a CBSSportsline report that Adrian Peterson has captured the Vikings' starting job.
Peterson did an interview with CBS Sports and claimed he was named the team's starter "from now on." The rookie has a much better chance to produce consistently over the course of the final ten weeks if he has indeed usurped Chester Taylor. Peterson should easily maintain RB1 value in the second half. Oct. 27 - 2:13 p.m. ET

Report: Vikes' Peterson could miss 3 weeks
Adrian Peterson - RB - MIN - Nov. 12 - 2:26 p.m. ET
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Adrian Peterson (torn lateral knee ligament) is expected to be out up to three weeks.
Chester Taylor will take over as Minnesota's starter, and would have excellent matchups against the Raiders in Week 11 and Lions in Week 13, with a game vs. the Giants sandwiched in. Peterson isn't expected to need surgery and should be back before the end of the season, but this is a devastating loss for a Vikings offense that presents no threat of a passing game.

Adrian Peterson a 'long shot' for Week 12
Adrian Peterson - RB - MIN - Nov. 19
Vikings coach Brad Childress confirmed Monday that Adrian Peterson (torn LCL) is a "long shot" to play in Week 12.
The Vikings have been targeting Week 13 against Detroit as the return date for Peterson all along, so this is not a surprise. Peterson did begin running in a pool on Monday and could do some dry-land work this week. Chester Taylor is likely to get another start against the Giants on Sunday.

Peterson to practice, visit with Dr. Andrews
Adrian Peterson - RB - MIN - Nov. 21
Adrian Peterson (knee) will take part in a portion of Vikings' practice Wednesday, but reportedly must receive clearance from orthopedic Dr. James Andrews before he will be able to play in a game again.
The team will have a better idea of his return date after seeing how his torn LCL reacts to a day of practice, but a second MRI after the workout could determine his fate for the near future. The Vikings remain hopeful Peterson will be able to suit up in Week 13 against Detroit, but a team source told Yahoo Sports that the Vikings are "going to be extremely careful with him."

Vikings elevate RB Peterson to questionable
Adrian Peterson - RB - MIN - Nov. 23 - 3:29 p.m. ET
Adrian Peterson (knee) has been upgraded to questionable for Week 12.
The Vikings were expected to play it especially cautious with Peterson, but using him Sunday would be doing the exact opposite. If Peterson is active, it would make Chester Taylor a far less intriguing fantasy play against the Giants. The Vikings' beat writers say Peterson remains more likely to return in Week 13, so fantasy owners shouldn't be counting on him for Sunday.

Vikings' Peterson not expected to face Giants
Adrian Peterson - RB - MIN - Nov. 24 - 12:03 p.m. ET
The St. Paul Pioneer Press writes that Adrian Peterson (questionable, knee) "most likely" won't play in Week 12.
He donned a knee brace as he practiced on a limited basis all week. The most likely return date for him still is Week 13 against the Lions. If Peterson does play Sunday, there's a good chance his workload will be limited.

Adrian Peterson - RB - Vikings

The Vikings believe that Adrian Peterson could play Sunday if it was a playoff game, but the coaches want to hold him out one more week.
He'll test his knee in pregame warmups, but Peterson owners should honestly hope he sits out another week. His rapid recovery indicates he can be close to 100% for the fantasy playoffs. Nov. 25 -

Peterson expected to return for Vikes
Adrian Peterson - RB - MIN - Nov. 26 - 12:00 p.m. ET
Adrian Peterson will return in Week 13, provided he makes it through a full week of practice this week.
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune confirms that Peterson was healthy enough to play in Week 12, but the team decided to be cautious and give him one more week. The Vikings, who suddenly find themselves in the middle of the wild card race, face Detroit next week, making Peterson a solid start.

Adrian Peterson active for Vikings
Adrian Peterson - RB - MIN - Dec. 2 - 11:44 a.m. ET
As expected, Adrian Peterson is active for the Vikings in Week 13 against the Lions.
He may not start and will likely split snaps with Chester Taylor, but figures to see enough action to make him a worthwhile RB1 option. Despite missing 2.5 games with a knee injury, Peterson remains the NFL's leading rusher. He totaled 118 yards on 24 touches against the Lions in Week 2.
