NFL.com's Adam Schefter reports Adam Vinatieri's ankle may be broken.

The Colts deny it, but Vinatieri's ankle is reportedly severely injured and a teammate close to the kicker says Vinatieri could miss the early part of the season. Because he's a kicker, Vinatieri should be removed from draft boards until his status becomes more clear. Aug. 31 - 12:06 a.m. ET

NEVER take a kicker until there are only a few rounds left in the draft

the difference between the top and middle-lower range kickers are very few points and kickers are a dime-a-dozen

we have 15 rounds in our draft and chose our 2 kickers in rounds 12 and 15

Doctors have confirmed the Colts' claim that Adam Vinatieri has a sprained ligament in the ankle of his "plant foot."

Vinatieri's mother told the media earlier in the week that her son has a broken foot. The kicker is expected to sit out as long as it takes to nurse the foot back to 100 percent, even if it means missing Week 1. Vinatieri is a dicey fantasy pick because he might require two roster spots. Sep. 1 -
