Jason Witten will play more snaps as a wide receiver this season, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Someone needs to get the local rag a memo that Witten already saw a huge percentage of his targets lined up as a wideout. While Witten isn't quite as effective out wide, he's ultimately their No. 2 receiver and should see more pass targets than ever. Jun. 23 - 8:57 a.m. ET

Asked who would fill in at third receiver while Miles Austin and Sam Hurd are out, Cowboys coach Wade Phillips named Jason Witten as the top option.
Naturally; Witten will be Dallas' No. 2 receiver this year. Phillips says Witten will man the slot between Terrell Owens and Patrick Crayton. In Week 1 Dallas faces the Browns, whose slot corner is Terry Cousin. Witten has eight inches and 80 pounds on the 33-year-old, and is probably faster. Aug. 29 - 3:24 p.m. ET

Hard Knocks, Training Camp with Dallas Cowboys, he looks like a beast... unlimited physical tools and he's coming around to listening to coaches and improving his blocking and route running techniques.... Coaches were saying he could get significant playing time and be on the field at the same time as Witten...

According to coach Wade Phillips, Jason Witten (shoulder) will practice Wednesday and play in Week 3.
Witten briefly left Monday night's game with a slightly separated right shoulder, but ended up with 110 yards on seven catches and appears to have avoided a serious problem. Sep. 16 - 4:15 p.m. ET

	Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said Monday that he doesn't know whether Jason Witten (ribs) will be available in Week 9. The team may still be awaiting the results of Witten's MRI. Phillips did say that he wouldn't rule out there being a possibility that Witten could play, which doesn't sound optimistic. We should learn more from the MRI before Wednesday.

Jason Witten (ribs) plans to be a game-time decision in Week 9 at the Giants. He did not practice on Thursday.

"I am optimistic about it, but I think at some point I’m going to have to do something in practice here," said Witten, allowing that backups Martellus Bennett and Tony Curtis "are going to have to" be ready to play. Witten hasn't practiced this week and will be called questionable at best on Friday. Oct. 30 - 2:13 p.m. ET

Jason Witten (ribs) missed his third consecutive practice on Friday.

Coach Wade Phillips said Witten is a rare player that can miss practice all week and play, but he can't even sleep or breathe without having trouble due to broken ribs. Look for Witten to be inactive on Sunday. Dallas goes on a bye in Week 10 and that should give him ample time to get healthy. Oct. 31 - 1:13 p.m. ET
