	Report: Leinart's hold on job is 'tenuous'

	Despite coach Ken Whisenhunt's offseason votes of confidence, Matt Leinart's hold on the Cardinals' starting QB job is reportedly "tenuous." Kurt Warner reportedly took most of the first-team snaps during Thursday's OTA practice. Whisenhunt tried to downplay the development, but the Arizona Republic believes he may be trying to send Leinart a message. If Leinart doesn't clearly outplay Warner in the preseason, the Cards could have a QB controversy. Warner threw 27 TDs and 17 picks after Leinart's injury in 2007. Source: Arizona Republic

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt wouldn't rule out using Kurt Warner in a specialist's role again this season.
"I wouldn't anticipate it," Whisenhunt said, "but I wouldn't rule it out." Before Matt Leinart's fractured collarbone last season, Warner had emerged as the team's designated no-huddle quarterback. Though Whisenhunt has backed Leinart as the starter, Warner claims he's been told it's a competition. Preseason action should give us a better read on the situation, but the specialist's role would kill both quarterbacks' potential starting value. Jul. 26
