Default Questions/Fantasy Baseball News 2008

2 guys from my FB league dropped 4 players, Beltran, Granderson (DL), Lowell (DL) and Kelly Johnson.

My friend with higher waiver number took Beltran I added Granderson and Johnson, is is worth to take Lowell?
Anyone knows when he will come back? In end of April or faster?

Mike Lowell: Swelling in Thumb Down

Mike Lowell: Swelling in Thumb Down
- 4/13/2008 9:14:30 AM

Update:
Lowell said the swelling in his injured left thumb has gone down, but he still not close to swinging a bat, the Boston Globe reports.

Recommendation:
The club is calling the injury a sprain, though it involves a strained ligament. Lowell continues to wear a removable splint and hopes he can start some movement exercises within three or four days.

Looks like end of April at the earliest from reading the above. Wouldn't expect much out of him at first anyway since he can't even swing a bat, will be rusty for sure

He'll likely get sent down to the minors to get some rehab in you'd think

Those guys are impatient ;-)
If player suck or he is on DL, the drop him.
Who cares, I would like to improve my offence.

Fo this moment I have in my team 4 players on DL, I tried to trade D-Train, nobody want him, I have to wait until he will come back from DL, and pitch well ;-)

My team looks like this:
C Joe Mauer
1B Ryan Garko
2B B.J. Upton
3B Ryan Zimmerman
SS Hanley Ramírez
OF Magglio Ordónez
OF Vernon Wells
OF Andre Ethier
Util J.D. Drew
Curtis Granderson DL
BN Kelly Johnson
DL Michael Cuddyer

SP Tim Wakefield
SP Joe Saunders
RP Chad Billingsley
RP Shaun Marcum
P Adam Wainwright
P Jeff Suppan
BN Andy Pettitte
BN Jered Weaver
BN Dontrelle Willis DL
BN Brad Penny

I would like to take Lowell, but I don't know who to drop

As sure as the sun rises, JD Drew, will spend an time on the DL. The most he has EVER played in a season is 146 games and he's only topped 140 games played 3 times in his career. You have a good set of OF's and you have no backup 3B. On a side note, there are no better players available than Mike Lowell?

It is 16 man league.
I think about players who can help my team in a future, in a long term

Well that sheds a little light on the subject. Talent is spread thin.

I see that you have no closers on your roster. Saves isn't a category?

@ Road Dawg

You can tell the same about Chipper Jones.
It is begging of the season, and Drew plays very well right know, so I won't drop him. Not know ;-)

Saves is a category, but I picked up only Tom Gordon, and I have droped him after his poor pitching in fisrt games.

There are several players that are a guaranteed trip to the DL at some point, and Chipper is one of them. Eric Chavez is another.
