Seahawks head coach Mike Holmgren confirmed Thursday that Shaun Alexander doesn't have a crack in his foot.
"That's a non-story, honest to goodness. There is nothing wrong with Shaun Alexander," the Walrus told the AP. Holmgren says there's no plan and no need for Alexander to have another MRI performed on the foot. May. 10 - 8:10 p.m. ET

Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren revealed Monday that Shaun Alexander has a crack in his right wrist, but expects Alexander to play through the injury.
The Seahawks said a few weeks ago that the wrist was merely sprained, but it was most likely cracked all along. Alexander, who has been wearing a cast over his hand since the opener, had two drops Sunday. Holmgren added that the injury will likely be with Alexander all season and affect the way he carries the ball. His rushing totals have been solid. Sep. 24 - 6:46 p.m. ET

An MRI revealed no structural damage to Shaun Alexander's knee or ankle. He did not partake at Seahawks practice Wednesday.
The swelling has gone down in Alexander's joints, so it now becomes an issue of pain and regaining range of motion. He might not practice all week. Nov. 7

It looks like Alexander will be listed as questionable at best. It's also quite possible that his status won't be known until before game time. That's the extent of his practice participation. Alexander is listed as questionable with two injuries, and shouldn't be counted on in fantasy leagues. It doesn't help, either, that he's played terribly when healthy. Nov. 10

	Shaun Alexander and Deion Branch will not play for Seattle on their Monday Night Football game against San Francisco, according to ESPN.com. Mike Holmgren reportedly announced the news on his television show Sunday, although the local Seattle papers don't have the news. This means Maurice Morris will get the start for Seattle at running back, with Leonard Weaver playing a bigger role. Morris is a fine flex option if you kept a space open. At wideout, Nate Burleson will pick up snaps alongside D.J. Hackett and Bobby Engram. Source: ESPN.com

	Shaun Alexander (knee) missed practice for the third straight day Friday and is not expected to play Sunday, despite being called "questionable." Maurice Morris is expected to start versus Chicago, with third-down back Leonard Weaver continuing to see action on passing downs. It's far from a surprise that the Seahawks aren't using Alexander or pushing him to play, as he's no longer one of their most integral players in a pass-heavy attack. Source: Seattle Times

	The Tacoma News Tribune does not expect Shaun Alexander (ankle, knee, wrist) to play in Week 12 against the Rams. Coach Mike Holmgren said last week that if Alexander cannot practice on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, he will not play on Sundays going forward. On Monday, Holmgren said he did not anticipate Alexander practicing Wednesday, while adding "let's wait and see." Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said Shaun Alexander could play in Week 13, but needs to return to practice first.

And there in lies the rub, as Holmgren did not indicate when or if Alexander would practice. Riding their passing game during a current three-game winning streak, the Seahawks may not be in any rush to get Alexander back on the field. MLB Lofa Tatupu (ribs) will miss practice time this week, but Holmgren hopes to have him for Week 13. Nov. 27 - 1:28 p.m. ET

	Shaun Alexander (knee) practiced without restrictions for the third straight day Friday will start in Week 13 against the Eagles. "(Maurice Morris) will probably play a little bit more than before Shaun was hurt, and Shaun understands that," Mike Holmgren said. "He's handling it like a real professional." The news that Alexander will start makes him a much safer fantasy play than Morris. We'd use Alexander as an RB2/flex, but don't be surprised if Morris ends up with a healthy dose of carries. Seattle coach Mike Holmgren expects Sunday's split between Shaun Alexander and Maurice Morris to continue for the rest of the season.

Alexander had 20 touches to just five for Morris. Morris looked much more explosive in his limited work, but Holmgren seems satisfied with the split. He did say that he reserves the right to change his mind, but Alexander should remain a decent RB2 going forward. Dec. 3

Coach Mike Holmgren expects Shaun Alexander to return in 2008.

"Oh, absolutely (he'll be back)," Holmgren said. Holmgren remains adamant that the wrist injury is the main reason Alexander has struggled this season, and likely wants to give him another shot while healthy. The Seahawks signed Alexander to an eight-year contract in 2006, so it's not a question of if he'll eventually be released, it's when. He's due to make $4.45 million next year, but that jumps to $5.56 in 2009. Dec. 21 - 12:39 p.m. ET

Shaun Alexander will still count at least $2.3 million against the 2008 salary cap if Seattle releases him this offseason.
The Seahawks may look to re-work his deal before considering cutting Alexander outright to avoid being on the hook for dead money. His cap cost if Seattle keeps him is $7.35 million. His salary is just under $5 million. Jan. 15 - 9:17 a.m. ET

After listening to Mike Holmgren on KJR radio this morning, Seahawks beat reporter Frank Hughes feels there's "no way" that Shaun Alexander will be back in Seattle next year.

Holmgren noted that when a back is exceptional at one skill, such as Alexander was at running in 2005, it's not as important to be well-rounded, but hinted that Alexander's average running didn't compensate for his poor pass catching or blocking. Holmgren was Alexanders' biggest cheerleader this season, and that he has apparently soured on him makes it even more unlikely Shaun will return. Jan. 17
