Steve Smith (questionable, hamstring) again missed practice Thursday.

Smith's reaction to DeAngelo Hall's comments earlier in the week indicated the All-Pro wideout plans to play in Week 1. Jake Delhomme agreed. Coach John Fox says Smith is still "day-to-day." The AP reports Keary Colbert and Drew Carter would split time if Smith can't go. Sep. 7 - 2:00 p.m. ET

The Gaston Gazette reports Steve Smith, questionable with a hamstring injury, is unlikely play in the season opener Sunday.

The paper points out that Panthers coach John Fox has rarely allowed players who miss a full week of practice to play on game day. Smith is reportedly receiving "intense medical treatment" and that even if he does play, Smith will be running with a pair of injured hamstrings. Sep. 9

The Rock Hill Herald reports Steve Smith, questionable with a hamstring injury, may not return until Week 3 at Tampa Bay.

MRIs performed on both his hamstrings revealed no severe strains or tears, but the Herald argues Smith should sit out the first two games so he can be healthy for the Panthers' stretch run in the winter. He remains very questionable for Sunday, but make sure to watch the inactives. Sep. 10 - 8:40 a.m. ET

	Steve Smith caught eight passes for 189 yards and a touchdown in Carolina's 23-21 Week 6 victory against the overrated Baltimore Ravens. Carolina was able to come away with the victory despite a fourth-quarter scoring drive led by an energetic Kyle Boller. Smith exposed Ravens corner Samari Rolle, with whom he was matched nearly all day. His score was good from 72-yards out in the fourth quarter.
