Dolphins first-round pick Ted Ginn Jr.'s foot injury is a Lisfranc sprain and will need to be immobilized next week.

However, Ginn wasn't in a protective boot Thursday as ESPN reported, and Miami's medical staff believes he'll be fine by July. But Ginn, who is entering the pros as a raw route runner, will have missed quite a bit of work by then and faces an uphill climb to take Marty Booker's starting job. May. 4 - 1:09 a.m. ET

Dolphins coach Cam Cameron says he hears that Ted Ginn Jr. is making "encouraging progress" from his Lisfranc sprain.
Wide receivers coach Terry Robiskie, whose son Brian played with Ginn at Ohio State, has kept contact with the first-round pick. Ginn won't be available to participate in any workouts until mid-June, however, as OSU's graduation is later than most schools. He'll be behind in terms of knowing the offense. May. 25 - 4:57 p.m. ET

Ted Ginn Jr. (Lisfranc sprain) will report to Dolphins camp June 7.
That will be just in time for Ginn to hopefully get in some practice at Miami's next minicamp. Head coach Cam Cameron acknowledged that the first-round pick has a ways to go before making an impact on offense: "He's coming here as a returner first. And then a receiver and he'll learn." Ted Ginn (Lisfranc sprain) ran through drills at Miami minicamp Friday without a red non-contact jersey.

No word if he's fully participating in all team drills, but it's a great sign for his progress. Ginn's role in the wideout pecking order will be determined by his play now and in August. He could start or drop to a fourth receiver. Jun. 9

Ted Ginn completed all five practices at Miami's minicamp and "routinely breezed past" the secondary in passing drills.

Looks like he's healthy. Ginn still needs to refine his route-running, but expect him to be Miami's punt returner and an explosive option off the bench at worst. Unless his foot sprain has a setback, the Dolphins wideout group is crowded with Ginn, Chris Chambers, Marty Booker, and Derek Hagan. Jun. 11

Ginn has stepped in for Marty Booker, who has missed the last two days with knee soreness. While Derek Hagan has gotten a few reps in Booker's absence, Ginn has seen the majority of time, indicating the Dolphins now consider him third on the depth chart. Aug. 9 - 1:38 p.m. ET

Ted Ginn and Derek Hagan will get more consistent playing time following the trade of Chris Chambers.

Ginn would seem to benefit the most, but it's possible that Hagan and he will split starting duties opposite Marty Booker. Until we see consistent production, we wouldn't invest in either young Dolphin in fantasy leagues. They are both raw. If we had to take a Miami wideout, it would still be Marty Booker. Oct. 16

ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports Ted Ginn will start Sunday.
The Miami Herald speculated earlier in the week Derek Hagan would be Miami's starter opposite Marty Booker, but it appears the Dolphins will go with Ginn instead. This gives Ginn a better fantasy outlook, although Hagan will see plenty of action. Neither is much of an option against New England. Oct. 21 - 10:41 a.m. ET
