| Training Camp Injuries to Worry About Terrell Owens, DAL - It’s not just that Owens has chronic hamstring problems. It’s that he’s already annoying the Big Tuna by refusing to practice through pain. It’s enough to knock him slightly below younger options like Steve Smith, Chad Johnson, and Larry Fitzgerald. Arnaz Battle, SF - Battle has some possession receiver skills, but his injury history can’t be ignored. He’s barely practiced during training camp. LenDale White, TEN - He showed up late to camp and in questionable condition. He’s barely practiced since the Rose Bowl, missing the summer with a hamstring problem and most of training camp with toe and knee problems. The Titans would like a running back that is more durable than Chris Brown. Curtis Martin, NYJ - Consider him undraftable until proven otherwise. It looks like he could start the season on the PUP list. Packers O Line - They have lost two top reserves, Kevin Barry and Adrian Klemm, for the season. Their next reserve tackle Will Whittiker is out indefinitely. They are starting two rookies at guard and LT Chad Clifton has a chronic knee problem. This is not going to be a fun year for Brett Favre. I’d also downgrade Green Bay’s running backs slightly because of all the problems. The Browns, who are on their third center of training camp, could also encounter problems. Chad Jackson, Patriots WR - The rookie is losing any chance to start by missing almost all of training camp thus far with a hamstring injury. Cedric Benson, Bears RB - Benson’s shoulder injury won’t derail starting hopes, but he needs to come back on time and strong. He could be back in two weeks. Chris Perry, Bengals RB - He’s back to being the injured Chris Perry of 2004. The reserve hasn’t practiced since 2005 and won’t be as good a reserve fantasy pick unless he gets on the field soon. |
