Don't tail me by any means, but playing both dogs is a winner if only one comes through. I don't believe that home ice in the NHL is as meaningful as home court in the NBA. Stars are tired, but they are playing well, and have a scorching-hot goalie.

The time off should help the Stars, but Detroit was hitting on all cylinders vs. Colorado. I think they solve Turco and take Dallas in 5 or 6 games. Pittsburgh took down a veteran, determined Ranger squad, while Philadelphia feasted on a slew of soft goals vs. Montreal. I see the Penguins firepower and tremendous power play giving the Flyers fits, and have them winning in 6 or 7 games in the East.

as for the battle of PA - hard to bet against a team that has yet to lose a homie and has 4 of them in this series if need be. To me this all comes down to ONE person............Biron. If he stands on his head like he has done so far the Flyers have a chance. if not - this series will be a VERY SHORT one. this series will be a fairly long one but i do think the Pens have a TAD too much for the Flyers although if I am the Flyers I've already beaten the hottest team heading into the playoffs and the #1 seed in the East so i am NOT afraid of the Pens at all The NHL is PRAYING for a Wings/Pens series so they can get their glamour team vs (one of) 2 of is brightest stars in Crosby and Malkin |

Dallas will give the Wings all that they can handle. They will be physical and will get in their face. Wings had some rest against the Avs and haven't played a physical series yet. This will be the start. Dallas has been HUGE on the road winning in BOTH series on the road going 2-0 in Anaheim and San Jose. Not sure that they can duplicate that feat in Detroit, but they could. This to me is a long tough tight series. Dallas has better goalie, Wings have better defence and fire power up front. Detroit in 6 or 7.
PIT has young guns playing well and confident. Fleury has played better than expected. Pens win at home, and I agree that unless Biron stands o his head the Flyers are in trouble. I think that the Pens top line skates all over the slow Flyers defence. Hopefully Flyers offence shows up and contributes well. I am cheering for the Flyers but have to expect Pens to in this series. |

I think dallas(s) was wearing down against sybils machine the last two games. Dallass' m.o.in the postseason is towin game 1 on the road as a big dog then ride that momentum on to the next round. I love the guts and grits of the stars, but I cannot possibly see them winning game 1,nor the series after having to play catchup. Even with the full 3 days rest, game 6 had to use any fuel left in the tank, I see the stars taking a blow to their psyche with a big loss in game 1.

Who would have guessed that Dallas would have a parade of players to the penalty box and give the Wings all the advantage that they need. I did not see the game, but with a 5 on 3 PP early in the first with the Wings getting the early lead the tone was set. Dallas has had a HARD road here with the Ducks and Sharks. It would wear down any team. 6 periods of hockey has the same problem. Detroit takes the early lead but I expect Dallas to give a better disciplined effort in Game 2.
Frankly I just hope that the Eastern Final is a close series. |

3-0 lead with Detriot looking every bit like the regular season Champs that they were. Everyone is contributing including unheralded Frantzen. Good for him. Osgood has steadied them between the pipes and is only facing 18 shots or so a game. Face it, you MUST if you are Dallas get more shots and chances on Osgood. Penalties and undisciplined play have killed Dallas, but that too may come from being overmatched up front. Dallas defence just can't handle the playmaking and speed.

I was right on the teams, but wrong on the length of each series. Never thought it would be this easy, the Finals should be more competitive, but I like the Wings there as well.

I think you'll get generous odds to step in front of the Wings. May be good value there, but I will stay on the sidelines and hope I'm wrong.
