Don't see Oilers winning this one. Of course that is the easy pick, the Canes that is, but if Edmonton couldn't win game one when they led 3-0 and Carolina clearly had the jitters first two periods, then it is hard to see Oilers winning this one, even if it is an elimination game.
Goaltending has not really been a problem for Oilers last two games, except in the sendse that they porbably don't have the confidence they would have with Roloson playing, no matter what they may say. However, their power play has been dreadful and even strength goals have been hard to come by for them. On the other hand the Canes pp is much more potent and since one can expect they will get calls at home, they should have chances on the pp. Canes also have had lots of chances off the rush, and playing at home they have been tough all year. To sum up, we will never know whether Oilers really could have made a series of it. There will always be some doubt about them since they came in as a #8 seed, but they got to finals. They just haven't seemed like a real opponent for Carolina since Roloson got hurt. |
