The leafs are already getting killed by the media in Toronto, not a surprise given the Leafs struggles the last couple of seasons. The media is Toronto is much like the media in NY, if you struggle they kill you. However I thought Toronto for the most part played great hockey against Ottawa. However poor officiating(23 penalties called in game 2) and discipline eventually hurt them. The actually outplayed Ottawa badly in stretches of that 2nd game especially the 2nd period. Toronto at worst deserved a split but c'est la vie as the saying goes. Lot of people on Montreal tonight but Toronto always plays them tough. There is the revenge factor considering the Leafs eliminated Montreal from playoff contention last season but I still like the Leafs at -1.5 +185. Like I said earlier, it's too bad there is so much uncertainty regarding the Predators because they're pretty good, at least in the regular season anyway. Chris Mason looked particular sharp in the opener and Dallas is travelling up to Nashville, I like "em on the ML. |

Well! got a little too cocky on the Leafs, thought they'd win by 2 or more but they came through with a win nonetheless. The game more or less played out the way I thought minus the empty-netter. As mediocre as the Leafs have been post lockout, they've given Montreal trouble. It couldn't have gone any worse for Montreal and their fans than last April when the Leafs knocked Montreal out of playoff contention. This season Toronto hands Montreal its first loss and Toronto's first win comes at the expense of Montreal. Anybody but Toronto is the mantra for a lot of Habs fans. Of course 1967 is favorite refrain among Habs fans, it goes both ways. Either way, Montreal fans are pissed that they blew the 3-1 lead. Predators took it in a cakewalk, if only they could all be that easy. Tomorrow is all about the NFL for me so that's it for the NHL for a least a day. |
