We are surprised to be seeing 5's out there for tonight's Pacific Division match-up between Dallas and San Jose. Yes, both teams are not known for an all out offensive attack that produces tons of goals, but one look at the recent history between these two tells us that a getting a 5 to work with is a gift. Only twice in the past 10 meetings between these two clubs have they failed to reach the total of 5 goals, and more recently in this year's 6 match-ups the over is 4-1-1. Taking a closer look at the Stars, they sport an impressive 17-12 over/under mark when playing on the road. They come into the game on a 4 game losing streak, so you can bet coach Dave Tippett is hoping for a fast start, to hopefully grab an early lead, and play the game with the Sharks under pressure. San Jose comes off a 5-4 OT loss to the Coyotes on Tuesday night, but with that loss came two powerplay goals, and this is where we really think our play on the over has some legs. Both teams come into the contest relatively hot with the man advantage and on top of that, the Stars are having trouble killing penalties these days, letting up at least one goal on the pk in their last 4 games. Even though San Jose plays in Anaheim tomorrow night, we expect Evgeni Nabakov to get the nod in goal, which doesn't bother us as he has let in 15 goals in 5 starts against the Stars this season. On the flip side of the equation is Marty Turco who has had 6 starts against the Sharks this season letting 16 goals. All we are asking is for these average to hold up and we will be on our way to victory. |
