The Grade1 Santa Anita Derby Live on NBC

I love Sam P (4-1) in the Santa Anita Derby! He ran like a short horse in the GII Robert B Lewis (the prep for the SA Derby) and yet he still ran a very brave race. There is a ton of speed in this race including Sam P's stable mate King of the Roxy (i think he is strictly a sprinter) to insure a honest pace up front for the stalking style of Sam P. The Pletcher trainee has trained out of his skin leading up to the Derby with the addition of blinkers. I see Sam P making the lead at the head of the lane and drawing off in impressive fashion with his next stop being Louisville on the first Saturday in May.
