Shit! Here in Northern California homes are just sitting around not being sold. We had a housing boom as recently as a year ago. The average Middle Class family cannot afford to buy a home as of now. My sister's house has more than doubled in value since she bought the house 7 years ago. The prices will have to come down some in order to sell.

[SIZE=-1]Clinton's SEC head, Arthur Levitt tried CONTINUOUSLY to effect radical positive changes in accounting regulations but was blocked at every turn by the Republican dominated congress and the corporate lobbyists who poured vast sums of money into efforts to block any change. Harvey Pitt, Bush's choice for the SEC was instructed by Bush to go EASIER on big business

Before being tapped by Bush to head the SEC Pitt lobbied hard against a proposal by his predecessor, Arthur Levitt, to prohibit auditing firms from serving as consultants for their auditing clients. Now, Pitt has gone from an advocate for self-regulation in the accounting industry to the man in charge of the government agency that is supposed to regulate publicly traded businesses. But after a series of highly public corporate meltdowns in -- many related to dubious bookkeeping practices -- critics say Pitts' ties to the industry appear to be so close that he cannot lead the reform effort needed to restore the trust of investors and the public... Auditor reform remains Pitt's blind spot, the result of his history as a lobbyist for the largest auditing firms."

How can a high rate of home ownership ever be a bad thing?

This is not a political issue. Regardless of who controls the government, home ownership is good.

Not so fast my friend!!!..........

When the Bank has 93% equity in your house and your mortgage payment is 35% of your gross income. Without great job security, this a tricky situation many people are in.

Re: Home Ownership for the Middle Class is at it's HIGHTEST LEVEL EVER

Would LOVE to see how many jobs out of this flourishing cornucopia of jobs there are now (TOTALLY BEWCAUSE OF KING GEORGE'S EXPERT LEADERSHIP) are cashier jobs @ McDs or pumpin doo-doo out of doo-doo trucks!! Do you think the King would mind releasing THOSE statistics?!? NOOOOOOOOOO!! And he certainly doesn't want to raise the minimum wage on those jobs, b/c then all there would be a little nudge in competition for those jobs and there just suddenly wouldn't be as many of them around!
FAKE #s is what this administration has quoted us for years!!
And, to get back to topic, there's NO WAY all these people can afford these houses!! NO WAY!!

I see more signs out there for homes for rent now. When people rent homes in a neighborhood, naturally the upkeep isn't as good and the property values in the area go down.

assuming your working at the same job you had when you applied for the morgage...the only way i can see this happeneing is if you lie about your income. No bank would approve a home loan with only 7% down and a monthly mortgage payment of 35% of your gross income (at least not when i was home buying in 1998). Tricky situation is right but whos fault is that??

Then you have people who drew out their unemployment that lost good jobs who are not being accounted for statisically. The factory and manufacturing jobs are being outsourced to foreign countries to get cheaper or even slave labor like in China.

You won't see me shopping at a Wal-Mart who supports and purchases from the Commies in China. The star in between the Wal and Mart should be a red one.

The outsoucing of jobs can be blamed across the board on both parties. NAFTA started in the early 90's and both parties voted for it. The average American worker was against it at the same time. I knew I was.

My good Friend is President of a Bank here...they will not loan anyone with that little down payment and 35% of their Income...It is a Minimum 10% downpayment...and that is with Excellant credit...most are 15-20%... I guess that is why the economy is booming in GA, the Housing Market is expanding, and Homes are at the Highest Level they have ever been and no slow down in sight..

That is the problem with you lefties and commies....McDonalds and Wal-mart and such are not Lifelong end all jobs....They are stepping stones to better careers elsewhere unless you are a dead beat or you are retired just wanting to supplement income....Nothing wrong working at those places...but People employed at those places should not make more than 5-6 bucks a hour...anyone can do their jobs and it takes no skill. The opportunity is out there to go learn a trade either in Technical school or go to construction jobs/companies and get hired and work your way up..Hell Liscensed plumbers and electricians make at least 20 bucks a hour here and we are non union.....Flipping burgers and greeting peeps at Wal Mart are not skill jobs and should be paid less than anyone else... They are not Jobs you should be trying to support a family on....I mean it is a good place to work if you are laid off or in between jobs to keep money coming until something better comes along...

Bottom line is these stores sell Items cheap...Wal Mart, Target, etc...Fast food chains and the Ilk....Bottom line is they are not going to Lose their profit margin by raising wages unless they have to...so what happens to keep that profit margin...They lay off workers first to keep payroll and overhead the same, If that doesn't work they will raise prices to keep operating and stay in business. If the latter happens then they have laid workers off and raised prices which is bad for everyone involved..the workforce and the consumers. Which in turn is bad for the economy...I can't comprehend why the left pushes Higher Minimum wage when History it has shown to put the country into some sort of recession....Well hell that is what they want..more people out of work and on government programs means more people that depend on government entitlements which in turn means more votes so they can say...."Look what we did for ya...the repubs didn't do it".... It is all a game... demanding Minimum wage increases will Kill this economy quicker than anything else....and as a Private business owner at one time I frowned on anyone telling me how much I could pay my help, it is not the governments job...Hell I started my guys off at $10 bucks a hour....Much higher than Minimum wage...and I dont' know a business in my Town that pays minimum wage other than waitress jobs and they get tips......

Stepping Stones? Wal-Mart and McD's? That is absolutley the stupidest shit I've ever heard come out of your cake-hole, Joe Dirt!!
Obviosly you haven't visited your local Wal-Mart lately!! There are some real "Movers-And-Shakers" working at mine!! Obviously I'm glad they're working, but they aren't capable of doing ANYTHING else (75% of them)!! So let's pay them enought to at least pay the bills!!

I love it when the ignorant left uses Walmart(the stepping stone of
Bill and Hillary's wealth) McDonalds and other fast food jobs as
examples of a poor paying economy.
You can take all the jobs at all the fast food restuarants, all the jobs
at walmart and target and Kmart and that would add up to less
than 2% of the jobs in America.
Comes up with a better example for the ignorant sheep that
follow the BS of the Socialist left.
