Who among us has not bet on those 3 pound, see-through, paper-thin animals identified as Greyhounds?

They are bred for running and betting, how many of these do you see as pets in your neighborhood?


Talk about inhumane... See these things lose in Mexico and be served on a plate the same night.

actually quite a few greyhounds are pets in the twin cities area, you could adopt a retired and/or slow one from the greyhound track that was in hudson, wisconsin before it closed. they adopted them out instead of putting them to sleep. everybody that i know that had one said they were great pets.

I was the trackside Mgr @ the Hollywood Greyhound track in Hollywood Florida...NOBODY can tell me a tale of Greyhounds...Owners eventually adopt 10%...90% are put up for adoption..It is hard as hell to find these big poor made hyper rascals homes...Sadly less than half get adopted..The rest are euthanized..Life as a Greyhound can be VERY FUCKED UP....HEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE COMES HOLLYWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDD...( DA MECHANICAL RABBIT WHO THEY NEVER CATCH)

The boxes are heavily scrutinized on camera..Never thought about anyone possibly waxing floor of box..they are watered quite often and would repell water if so..Guess some track maint dude could do it..But then all dogs in that box would slip and the surveillance cams could be reviewe to catch the culprit..Would take a mass conspiracy..

The dogs are paraded around the track prior to race and a slight limp would be noticable..Claws kept very short...

The sand in front of the starters boxes is rolled and compressed every third race..I have known some guys who bet certain dogs ( All the track guys bet) to give a few xtra heavy stomps in front of the # box of their dogs box# but thats about it...

I dont know what goes on behind the scenes involving the vets..Whole nother story..-Jojo

Havent been at Hollywood Greyhound in a while. Remember watching the track officials taking urine samples after the race with a cup on the end of a stick to drug test the dogs. They only checked the win/place /show dogs. What if the dog didnt pee?

Dogs are just domesticated....Where I am from we raise them to hunt...they are good dogs...great to kids and can be trained the ones that can't we send them off.
