Thursday Plays...

Not the past way to break back into things yesterday going 1-4. Going with another five plays today to try to right the ship a bit.

Ohio -10.5 (-110)- The Bobcats should come out hot tonight after dropping a tough loss on the road to Kent State in OT in their last effort. Not sure Buffalo has the guns to stay with the scoring ability of Ohio. When you look at Buffalo they are a very young team that scores only 65 points a game and they are going to run into a tough spot tonight against an Ohio team that is the 25th most efficient team and is a very experienced and talented bunch. Ohio has covered 20 of their last 30 home games and this is a great bounce back spot for the Bobcats going up against an overacheiving squad that lacks the talent and experience to push a solid Ohio team on the road.

Iona/Canisus Over 133.5 (-110)- You have to feel for the Gaels, but at least they are having more fun of late and scoring points. Iona has now gone over the total in their last seven games and MAAC teams have been scoring on them at will. Canisus has not scored near as well as I thought they might this year, but they are not opposed to running as they rank 101st in pace and Iona is really starting to push the pace in their games. Iona swept Canisus last season and have always dominated them and I expect Canisus to try and run it down the down trodden Gaels throats tonight.

Bradley +8.5 (-110)- A line of public perception in this one because Bradley is a team perceived to be down and the perception of the talent at Creighton is far better than reality. Whenever people seem to rest on the Braves they come back fighting and that has been the case this year as well as Bradley started slow in the Valley but they now have run off three straight games and have a great chance to extend their streak to six if they can pull off the upset tonight. The reason why Bradley presents problems for the Blue Jays is they can score and they have scored a surprisingly high 78 points a game in conference play. These two teams always play each other close and I will back the Braves even with their road woes to ride their momentum and keep this game close.

Arizona/USC Under 149.5 (-110)- If you think that Tim Floyd is going to run with Lute Olson's horses you are crazy. He is going to try to keep this game in the halfcourt and make it a physical duel where he can maximize his defensive abilities and their 6th ranked team in defensive efficiency. This will be the highest total to date for the Trojans and this is a lot of points to have to go over when you consider that the Trojans limit their opponents output to just 59 points on their home floor. This should be a great game and you have to fear OT a bit, but I think that as long as OT is avoided that this game will be closer to 140.

Cal -2.5 (-110)- Much like Bradley this team isn't as good as it was last season, but they are better than people think. The Bears have started the Pac-10 going 3-2 even without Hardin and have won their last two roadies SU against Stanford and Arizona State. The Beavers did snap their four-game skid in their last game, but there is nothing special about this team and Cal has been masterful as a favorite this year going 8-3 ATS and cashing in on their low holding in people's eyes. Cal with a tough date against Oregon in their next game will be out to win this game and play with house money against the Ducks.
