DOug, the flag is TOTALLY uncalled for! There are 18 year old kids and fathers dying RIGHT NOW oversees so that you can lead the life that you currently lead!

Well now I've seen the flag it fits in with my view of where the US has slowly been heading these past 5 years, since the Patriot Act was introduced to a rubber stamp Congress. As a foreigner I have been distressed to see a once proud and mighty country fall toward facism. The fall from 09/11/01 when the whole world shared your grief to the present, as the world's greatest pariah, has been almost unbelieveable. I guess much can be laid at the feet of the dictator(s) in the White House.
The squealing of online gamblers when their own ox was gored by the UIGEA simply reminded me of the following well known quotation:

I respect the soldiers, because I think most of them are fighting because they believe they are defending American freedom. Unfortunately, I personally believe most of them are dying for nothing. Sacrificing themselves for Bush's war. Do you guys really think that the US presence in Iraq has prevented terrorism on US soil? Jeez....that's what they would have you believe. But let's get real for a second. On an international scale of tragedy, 9/11 was a very minor incident. 3000 casualties.
Now I know a few of your overzealous Americans are gonna come out firing and bashing me cause im a dumb Canadian, so I just wanna make something clear. I love America and I love Americans. I spend a ton of time in the US because of that. I hate Bush and I hate US foreign policy. I see his approval rating was recently at 30%. Why would another country want to cause harm to anyone from Toronto or Montreal in the first place? 911 wasn't something someone woke up one morning and said hey let me cause a horrible amount of pain and suffering to a random country. The main reason Canada would be in any danger is because of the fact we are right next door to the US.

Considering that 100 people a day are dying in Iraq, that would make Iraq a 9/11 per month for the past 2 years with no end in sight... don't see too many upset about that...
