Betmania

One day last year I turned on my Don Best screen to find a new book called " Betmania" as with all new books I watched the lines to see how fast they adjusted the moves. They looked to be very slow so I now started a mini-investigation of who they were and such. Knowing that Don Best has a reputation for taking any book that throws money at them was a bad sign that I discovered them there first.

I went to the site where to my surprise I read "Powered by the Rio group" I was happy for a second till I realized it said "powered" hmmm.. what does powered mean? I could not get anyone to give me an answer as to if Rio was backing Betmania/making the money good. But I did find out some Millenium staff was working and running the shop. This still would not be a bad thing because people have to work and just because they worked for a stiff outfit did not mean they did anything wrong.

They advertised on the RX and started threads about the current promos frequently. I questioned the guy making the posts about a few things which he constantly ignored. Hmm.. that was weird I thought. Until I realized this was probably the same guy who stole my money four years ago with Millenium. I simply wanted to know if Rio was backing Betmania. If they were that would of been wonderful because of Rio's stellar reputation for running good shops and more importantly timely payouts.

I have been told by many "in the know" that the guy that owned Millenium owns Betmania. That still wouldn't concern me if Rio backed them. You make the call...

I would avoid this place and skybook based on all the negative feedback this site has received recently...

It is better to be cautious....

Ask to speak to Mike Mitchell he is a stand up guy, and am sure he will have the answer your looking for.

Best of luck

Re: Betmania

Suprised this does not have more traffic...

Krackman has gotten slammed with his pants down a couple of times sticking up for books about to go stiff.

The fact that he is criticizing this one at this time is most concerning...

Re: Betmania

Both times I was "slammed" I lost more money at the 2 places then all the posters who were slamming me combined. It was a great learning experience for me though. I learned not to trust anyone in this business and that you are only as good as your last payout.

I am down to one post up spot now. Hard to believe I have had probably 100 over the last decade and 40 or so at one active time or another. The scumbags that went under and fvcked everyone cost not only me money but many more sportsbooks because of lack of trust in the industry.

Re: Betmania

i was thinking pretty hard about signing up with these guys because of their promos across the street..however, the fact that they seem pretty vague about answering questions (sometimes they don't answer, they just let the mods defend the book) really had me concerned..no thanx to this book for now...

Could you explain about the negative feedback Skybook has gotten recently? Just after it was announced they were sold I made two payout requests. Both were processed very quickly. It almost semed like they going beyond their normal excellent customer service. Why should people be concerned about Skybook?
Thanks for the feedback.

After reading these two threads, ask yourself would you feel comfortable playing there in this environment?

Sorry Krackman.

I did not intend for my post to come across that way.

I have always respected your gambling and industry knowledge. It is rare for you to come out and criticize a book and I just wanted to point that out.

Probably could have worded this one a little better.

Re: Betmania

No problem Joe!

Jamaica, I don't think I know you but either way thanks!

BP, I paid that kid because he emailed me and asked me opinions on a few books and I gave him Abetz for the certain kind of sports he asked me for. He had around a dime their and no I did not know him till he emailed me.

Re: Betmania

Maybe something good will come out of all of this. Post up has always been a risk/reward issue.

Ask yourself how much you lose in income by not playing at Skybook or Betmania or wherever. They are going to have to provide or have something nobody else does to get your business.

So, they are going to be the victims of antiselection aren't they? The only people that will play there are the people that can rip em and they are going to be caught in a death spiral.

One thing is for sure - if you don't play anyplace you will not make any money - you might be losing more by not playing than getting stiffed for low amounts once in a while - maybe there is not a money transfer system that is solid - maybe there is not a post up book on the planet that is worth playing with. If post up wants to survive they are going to need to find a way to guarantee the money. Ho's - scalpers - movers - always have been the venture capitalists that injected big amounts into the sytem.

But, then again, maybe it is another way of weeding out the big player or the player that has a chance in hell of winning long term. Why should the offshores keep their money safe????

Re: Betmania

Krackman,

Thanks again for starting this thread.

Subsequently, it appears one site I respect has downgraded Betmania and another one is having a tough time justifying their recent problems...

Betmania seems to have no problems taking in money, yet they have nightmares getting it out...

Sounds very disturbing and concerning as previously mentioned...

You have been warned..

As for Skybook, there is still no mention as to WHO the supposed NEW owner is despite them promising to reveal this information awhile back...

Since I don't know 4 sure WHO is REALLY BACKING them now, I can't endorse them period, especially in this environment...
