sportsbook agents

How does the agent for the sportsbook thing work?

Are they basically responsible for shuttling money back and forth from the book to the client?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Are they paid based on what the client loses?

Do they collect from the people that lose first and then pay the people that win later? Or does the book give them a certain amount of upfront money?

Welcome to eog atman

Some of those in the biz will give you some answers in a bit I'm sure....:cheers

Re: sportsbook agents

atman,

Usually an agent is a go-between acting on behalf of both the gambler and the player...

He often GUARANTEES the money to the player if the sports book stiffs and he does likewise for the sports book if the player stiffs...

For insuring both the bookie and player, and because he actively transfers funds between sports book and player, the agent is paid a fairly nice fee based on volume gambled by all of his players or their net losses...

Hope this helps some,

THE SHRINK

atman ...........your asking alotta fucking questions!!!!!

GOTTI: You want answers?
ATMAN (Tom Cruise): I think I'm entitled to them.
GOTTI: You want answers?
ATMAN: I want the truth!
GOTTI: You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has gamblers. And those gamblers have to be served by books with agents. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Atman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for the DOJ and you curse the BOOKS. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that being an agent, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me to be an agent. You need me to be an agent.
We use words like money line, teaser and parlay...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!
ATAMAN: Are you an agent for a book?
GOTTI: (quietly) I do the job they send me to do.
ATAMAN: Are you an agent for a book?
GOTTI: You're goddamn right I am!!

Re: sportsbook agents

Shrink do you know how to come in contact with these agents?
WHERE ARE YOU FROM BUM EGYPT? REAL SIMPLE, IF YOU ARE A GAMBLER IN YOUR HOME TOWN YOU MUST KNOW SOMEONE THAT BETS ON GAMES, IF YOU DONT YOU MUST LIVE NEXT DOOR TO GAMBLERS ANONYMOUS, AS FAR AS ASKING SOMEONE ON A OPEN FORUM WHO ARE THERE AGENTS, IS LIKE ASKING OJ SIMPSON TO ADMIT TO MURDER...

Shrink -

Know any drug dealers or pimps I could hit up too while I'm out and about. i'd hate to just bust agents....

Where do these people come from?

If you are too dumb to find an agent, you'd probably be bothersome to the agent anyways.

YOU KNOW AND I KNOW NO ONE IS GOING TO TALK TO YOU ON AN OPEN FORUM ABOUT AN AGENT, NOBODY EVEN KNOWS WHO YOU ARE, HOW CAN YOU EXPECT SOMEONE TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT THIS ON AN OPEN FORUM? AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE? IF YOU KNOW PEOPLE THAT GAMBLE I`M SURE YOU CAN FIND AN AGENT PERIOD..........

Re: sportsbook agents

agents are illegal everywhere, atman. it sucks to have to go to vegas to place a sports wager, but that's what we have to do. write your congressmen like we do and hopefully we can get this legislation changed.

Re: sportsbook agents

atman,

Do not let these bozos bother you.

All you have to do is post your name, address, phone number, social security number, bank account number and mother's maiden name.

Someone will contact you shortly.

Re: sportsbook agents

This thread is too funny. Asking for an agent on a public forum = getting some wannabe agent who is going to stiff you anyway.

Re: sportsbook agents

It's amazing how people who work for law enforcement are totally ignorant of what goes on in sports gambling. When I was busted in LA for booking, I watched in amazement how these guys made one mistake after another. They couldn't even get the terminology right. And this was supposed to be the ELITE of the vice squad.

Re: sportsbook agents

is it just me, or is the funniest thing about this thread, the original post?

the only time i have ever seen those little smilies appear, is when i am "copying and pasting" a joke from my email to the forum here...

Which leads me to believe that the questions were "given" to him, and he copied them here...

maybe i am wrong, but that sure looks odd to me....
