Depends on where they go.
The girls at the Del Rey will almost always ask for $100 for an hour(ish). If your boys speak spanish and have a little game, $65 - $70 can be had. During the day, you can easily score for $50.
The massage parlor girls range from $30 to $45 for the same level of service.

It's a fun place for that kind of stuff, Cannon. If you want hookers, visiting Costa Rica is like being a kid in a candy store.
The advice Hal01 gave sounds about right. Taxi drivers can also be helpful in getting you that sort of stuff - just tell them you want some 'mamacitas'. That's the magic word with them. If one of your friends find a girl they really like, you can even negotiate for them to spend a whole day or night with you for only $100-200.
I'd suggest probably starting off at a massage parlor place. It especially helps on the first day when you arrive after the long flight. Get all re-energized and some good action at the same time. It gives you a chance to start getting a feel for everything and warm up for the rest of the trip. Then you can work your way up to the Del Rey or other choices.

Guys, just make sure you get out of San Jose for part of the trip. Find a lady you like and take her on a side trip.

One of my buddies down there told me they cleaned up Jaco and you can actually go into bars without getting endlessly accosted by hookers. Is this really true? I can't even imagine having an Imperial at a bar there without getting descended upon.
