Hockey's record book proves how often Jaromir Jagr's on-ice gambles have paid off, a far cry from his off-ice gambling forays.

Puskar, AP</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>Before the Washington Capitals winger landed in the IRS penalty box for tax problems, he ran up more than $500,000 in Internet gambling debts three years ago. This week's Sports Illustrated reports that Jagr bet mostly on football with a Belize-based Web site, CaribSports, setting up an installment plan to settle his losses.
Jagr made just several monthly payments of $37,500 before stopping, but site owner William Caesar said he didn't pressure the five-time NHL scoring champion to pay off his balance until last April, when he told the story to an industry Web site.
Caesar then received a payment of 20% of the balance and considered the matter closed.
There's no indication Jagr bet on hockey, and Caesar said the site configured his betting page to prevent it. Wagering on NHL games is a violation of league rules, subject to punishment at the commissioner's discretion.
"We did that for our own protection, not just his," Caesar told SI. "That would destroy us, if he destroyed the game."
Jagr's lawyers told SI he did not place all the bets himself because a friend had used his password.
His problem now is satisfying a 2001 tax lien of $3.3 million filed against him Feb. 28 by the Internal Revenue Service.

52 arenas sounds about right, given that there are 30 teams, and most of which have upgraded arenas in the last 10 years or so. New Jersey has just opened the new arena, and many others have done the same. Jagr has also been around long enough now to have played in the older arenas (like Chicago Stadium and the new ones like the United Center). He's been a great player for a long time and will join his friends in the Hall of Fame upon retiring.
