Wrestling Trivia Questions

Merry Christmas Everybody!

The Munchkin Man would like to celebrate your Christmas Day with yet another wrestling thread.

For those of you who are tired of the wrestling threads, and the Munchkin Man can sense that some of you are, this will be the last wrestling thread the Munchkin Man starts.

This is the Munchkin Man's promise.

The purpose of this thread is to invite you to pose your very own wrestling trivia questions for your fellow fans.

The Munchkin Man recognizes the fact that many of the wrestling fans on this board probably grew up in the "territorial era" of professional wrestling.

Therefore, the Munchkin Man accepts the fact that you cannot be expected to be an expert on the many groups of the wrestlers who operated in the many regions and territories that once existed.

For example, the Munchkin Man grew up in the Mid-Atlantic territory of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and the WCW. Back in the 1960s, this territory was usually referred to as "The Carolinas."

The Munchkin Man knows more about this area than any of the others, primarily because the Munchkin Man watched its regional weekly television wrestling program religiously every Saturday. The Munchkin Man grew up with it.

On occasion, the Munchkin Man would catch a rare episode of a WWWF television show, or a Mid-South show, or a show from some other wrestling organization or territory, from another television channel.

Later on, after the WWWF became the WWF, the Munchkin Man got to see more of their shows on television, due to their increased national media exposure.

The wrestling federation the Munchkin Man knows the least about was the American Wrestling Alliance (AWA). That was the one with Verne Gagne.

What little the Munchkin Man learned about this federation and other unfamiliar territories was gleaned from the many hours the Munchkin Man used spend reading wrestling magazines, which used to provide a lot of coverage.

If you know the answer to any of these trivia questions without doing a Google search, please feel free to say so.

If you have to go a Google search to find the answer to any of these questions, please feel free to say so as well.

After all, the Munchkin Man wants this to be a learning experience.

Without further ado, the Munchkin Man would like to present his first batch of wrestling trivia questions.

The Munchkin Man made an effort to cover a variety of different eras, territories, and federations.

So here goes:

Re: Wrestling Trivia Questions

What former professional wrestler wrestled briefly under the moniker as "The Narcissist? Barry Windham I think, or Lex Lugar.

Congratulations! You got it on the 2nd try. It was Lex Luger. This was his first character gimmick as a wrestler in the WWF (circa 1993), following a brief hiatus from wrestling while he was involved with Vince McMahon's short lived World Bodybuilding Federation (WBF) in 1992. As "The Narcissist", Lex Luger would pose before full length mirrors and flex his muscles before each match.

What former professional wrestler often used the motto: "Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat!" Bobby Heenan..

The wrestler who has been credited with originating this saying is none other than Jesse "The Body" Ventura. It is very possible that Bobby Heenan may have borrowed it later.

The Munchkin Man would like to thank you for participating in these trivia questions.

The Munchkin Man hopes you had a Merry Christmas as well.

Happy New Year!

Re: Wrestling Trivia Questions

Who managed Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka immediately before he came to the WWF to be managed by Captain Lou Albano?

"Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers not sure however

You are correct!

Name a former wrestler and wrestling manager who went to high school with Saddam Hussein.

Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissy

Bingo!

Name a former football player and professional wrestler who helped lead the Chicago Bears to their 1985 football victory and who later became a member of The Four Horsemen.

Steve Mcmichael

Right again!

Name a former professional wrestler who was nicknamed "Mad Dog" in one wrestling organization and "Bull Dog" in another wrestling organization.

Buzz Sawyer

Yup!

What former professional wrestler performed for the WWF in 1996 under a persona who used a gimmick he called "Betsy", which he would stick in their opponents' faces?

Outlaw Ron Bass and it would be 1986ish

Interesting! Outlaw Ron Bass did use a bullwhip he called "Miss Betsy" during the time period you mentioned. The Munchkin Man had forgotten about that one. Thanks for the memory.

In 1996, however, a wrestler whose birth name was Tony Anthony, and who was most widely known as "Dirty White Boy" during most of his career, went to the WWF and took on a character gimmick as a "plumber" under the name of T. L. Hopper.

His "Betsy" was a plunger, which he would use to stick in his opponents' faces while they were flat on their backs and plunge away, after celebrating his victories.

Who was the last wrestler to play the role of The Black Scorpion?

Ric Flair unless the gimmick continued somehow and I don't remember.

You are correct. It was Sting who unmasked Ric Flair as The Black Scorpion, which rang the death knell for this gimmick.

Which former professional wrestler was nicknamed "The Teuton Terror?" Hans Schmidt

You got it! The Munchkin Man only got to see Hans Schmidt wrestle one time, on a television taping during a rare visit he made to "The Carolinas" back in the early 1960s.

Man, he was ferocious! He scared the crap out of the Munchkin Man.

Name the wrestling manager, who has not yet been mentioned in the "favorite managers thread', who led The Samoans (Tio and Reno) to the Florida tag team titles. He also used to manage Tarzan Tyler in Nebraska.

I tap out.

This was probably the Munchkin Man's hardest question which maybe should have been a "bonus question."

The answer is "Dandy Jack" Crawford.

Name the tag team which was often billed as "The Michigan Wrecking Crew" in the NWA during the 1960s.

John and Chris Tolos

Right you are! Back in the 1960s, the Munchkin Man saw them at the beach one day (in Virginia Beach), showing off in front of a lot of girls, with their stunts of standing on top of each others' shoulders, and so on.

Excellent job! Well done!

The Munchkin Man will try to come up with some more trivia questions in a day or two.

For those who are reading this thread, please feel free to come up with some of your own.

Happy Holidays To All!

What professional wrestler once drank down a quart of motor oil on a dare?

Greetings:

Unless the Munchkin Man is overlooking something, there is only one of the Munchkin Man's original wrestling trivia questions that has yet to be answered.

That question is the one quoted above.

Let the Munchkin Man give out a few more hints:

***Drinking the motor oil was a stunt he pulled during his college football days.

***He still holds the record for the longest punt ever kicked at his college, which was 91 yards.

***This wrestler also enjoyed golf, and his favorite golf partner was his friend and golf pro, Lee Trevino.

Good luck!

In the storyline, Ole was being criticized by the other members of the Horsemen for spending too much time at home with his family, especially going to his son's Wrestling tournies

It culminated when Tully Blanchard referred to his kid as a snot nosed punk, and Ole attacked Blanchard, and was beaten up by the the Horsemen

That's exactly how I remember it. Luger started out as what they called "an associate" of the Horsemen and when Ole got kicked out for these reasons, it was then he became the full fledged 4th horseman replacing him.

Ole stuck around the NWA scene as a face for a few months after that feuding with the Horsemen and a few others. In '89 and '90 he resurfaced when the Horsemen re-united in the NWA but did very little full-time wrestling. He had some other roles for a while like booker, manager, etc.
