What do you do when you see a book still has a line up well after the game started?

Once every so often, I'll spot that a line is still up on a game after it's started. Tonight, one major book had a line up on an NBA game when it was 5+ minutes into the first quarter. I called to tell them about it and they took the line off the board.

Has anyone else tried to notify a book when they have noticed something similar? Also, has anyone attempted to "past post" by betting into a line that's still up well after the game/half has started?

Not gonna cheat a book, because I wouldn't want them cheating me.

They'll catch it and BAN YOU and it's possible you may have a tough time getting your money

I'd rather not get banned at a place I play, because I only play at places I trust and sure don't wanna lose a solid out

And I believe in karma too, and we all know what Karma can be!!!!!

I clearly agree on not betting it. Even though I don't expect anything from the book for reporting it (and truly have never been given anything), I'll try calling to let them know.

I would not try because as stated above it is not smart to try to cheat the books. I have done it by accident (honest) and it would not let me saying the game started.

Yeah, I've seen times where it's knowingly done. Years ago, I remember mvpbets.com had some specific liberal policies with that. But this case had to be a mistake with 5+ minutes already into the 1st quarter happening.

I never bet it, and have called the book on occassion. I have seen tennis matches posted and the match was over several times.

EVERY SPORTSBOOK HAS A RULE ABOUT TIME OF WAGERS BEING ACCEPTED BUT WHEN THE SPORTSBOOK CHEATS THE PLAYERS THE RULES SUDDENLY DISAPPEAR.

About eight years ago..I discovered a book that was not all that sharp when it came to horse racing from Belmont/Aqueduct. When a storm was moving in late in the card they would often move up post times by about 5 minutes with the book allowing bets up until the scheduled post.

One of the greatest Meatman radio shows ever was the time several years ago when Dave had a guest on giving out his "pick of the day." The guy gives out the pick, and Dave is furiously searching one of his advertised sites for the line on the game. He can't find it.

They go back and forth for about five minutes, and then finally realize the game has been over for hours.

Meatman moaned and groaned the rest of the show. Probably one of his most entertaining shows.

The better question is what do you do if you unintentionally bet such a line, then tune into the game with it being well underway, and your bet is already in the toilet?

Such a thing happened to me at Carib Sports on a second half football bet several years ago. As soon as I tuned in and saw the time remaining in the quarter and the score, I called them. Tough shitski (more or less), is what they told me, due to that being "impossible."

Needless to say, I never deposited again with Carib Sports.

I have had that happen a couple of times with second half plays. Sometimes I was into taking under's in the second half for football. But I'd be watching the game in a bar or something and had to use the phone somewhere else. I'd be on hold, then finally getting through and putting the bet in. I'd walk back and see the ball was already on the 50 yard line or whatever. I'm sure if I took the over instead of the under, the bet would have not been taken.
