I had to go get my car registration and then renew-ed my drivers license so I went ahead and agreed to be a full donor. Do you have any opinions on this?

My Momma is. We had a really old piano and she gave it to our church.

Thanks. I feel good about it. Maybe I can help somebody after my death.

Re: Are you an Organ donor?

YES

if my death can make the lives of others better - i am all for it. if my liver can save Walter Payton's life (You know what i mean by that) that would be great. if my kidneys can help get someone off Dialysis and extend their life 20+ years that would be great

the ONLY thing i don't want is for my organs to go to a smoker because smokers aren't allowed to donate organs so i don't want my organs going to someone who can only TAKE but not GIVE BACK

Re: Are you an Organ donor?

as my boy Chris rock said

" being a organ donor is for people with no faith at all , what if they find out a way to bring you back from the dead, and now i aint got no eyes, aint that a b***h back from the dead and i cant see s**T"

Re: Are you an Organ donor?

I am not an organ donor. My ex-husband's family was in the funeral business and he has seen what you look like when you get back from donating so he made his family swear to never do that.

Re: Are you an Organ donor?

YUMMY..just asking. Why does it matter?

He has seen how people come back from that process and that image will never leave your mind. I now have thought about it and don't want to think of that person laying there not whole and their bodies, to me, violated in that manner. Just my opinion so it doesn't mean much, just answering the question.

Re: Are you an Organ donor?

i understand....yummy. lots of folks feel that way.

i'm going in that big ole oven anyway. so it doesn't really matter to me.

No offense, but "violated"?

when you are dead it doesn't matter what you look like. If you don't want to donate your organs and give other people a chance to live a better life you are pretty selfish. You will be 6' underground so who cares what you look like.

100% agree

how would someone like it if they needed a liver to live - and someone had a perfectly suitable one for you - but they chose NOT to be an organ donor for the same selfish reasons stated here. so now YOU ARE GOING TO DIE - when you really didn't need to if someone had been thoughtful enough to give up something they no lonegr need. so while you are sitting there on Death Bed in the hospital while your family gathers around parying for a miracle - NONE will come and you will die - all because someone didn't want to give up something they didn't need

i have NO PROBLEM with someone NOT wanting to donate any organs - but then when they need one they should NOT get it. you don't want to give up anything - you don't get anything. give it to someone who is willing to give back - and not just take. you don't believe in organ donation? FINE - then DIE if you ever need one!

I sense a lot of people would change their mind if this was the case: NO donation - NO receiving one

Re: Are you an Organ donor?

Just the way some people see it. You are still a person even though you are dead and should still be treated with respect.

Your hope to continue life would be dashed to bits if you were in need of an organ transplant but the person who could have saved your life had your own beliefs.

Re: Are you an Organ donor?

-bump-

in interest of convincing any non-organ donor to contribute toward saving a random person's life.

Re: Are you an Organ donor?

YES......WHEN I AM GONE THEY CAN HAVE ALL MY SPARE PARTS.......

WHILE ALIVE, I WOULD GLADLY GIVE A KIDNEY, BONE MARROW OR PART OF MY LIVER TO MY WIFE, SONS OR GRANDKIDS IF THEY NEEDED AND I WAS A QUALIFIED DONOR............

Re: Are you an Organ donor?

I never said it was bad for anyone to be an organ donor just that I was not one and I gave my reasons why. I don't understand why my feelings are so bad just because they do not agree with yours. Sorry but we are not all alike (thank goodness). I now remember......

It absolutely is not selfish. Your body, and everything IN IT belongs to you and you alone. If you or anyone else takes everything to the grave with you, then no one has a right to begrudge you at all.

Perhaps some people believe that when it's their time to go, it's their time to go.

My aunt received a kidney from her 2nd oldest daughter and it gave her another 2 years of life, however, that kidney soon failed and she died anyway. There is ZERO guarantee that a transplant will work for any length of time.

I'll never believe that I have a right to anyone else's organs in life or death.

Re: Are you an Organ donor?

:smokesmali have seen bodys after harvesting was done-I MEAN TAKING THE CARTLIGE OUT/AND ORGANS FOR RESEARCH DONE IN THE MORGUE/MOST ORGAN DONORS ARE KEPT ALIVE IN A STERILE ENVIRONMENT/ A TRANSPLANT TEAM/USUALLY IN THIS CASE FROM S.F./COMES IN/PUTS ON STERILE WHITES/WITH COOLERS FOR THE PARTS TAKEN,AND IMEDIATLY LEAVES. BODY TAKEN DOWNSTAIRS/ SOMETIMES ORGANS ARE THEN USED AT MEDICAL SCHOOLS. GUYS-THE REASON I KNOW THIS-I WORKED AT A HOSPITAL IN SECURITY FOR A WHILE-HAD TO ESCORT THESE PEOPLE, AND CHECK BODY PARTS FOR JEWLERY,OR ANYTHING ON THEM AND MAKE REPORTS, ALSO NEEDED TO REPORT ON WHEN BODY ARRIVED,AND RELEASED TO FUNERAL HOME. TERRIBLE FOR ME-
