This is untrue. Acetone is a hazardous material as it has a very low flash point and is therefore a flammable material. The one thing that was not mentioned is whether or not the use of acetone would actually clean your engine as it is used. There are many people with used oil burners that use acetones and solvents and say not only does it burn well, but it also cleans their burners.

I will do a test, I will pour acetone in a glass jar, then put some "O-rings" in there and see what happens over the next week or two, I will get back to you with the results.

Gas is burned at the exact rate the engine it is powering is supposed to burn it at. Adding X chemical or compound is not going to affect the rate the fuel pump supplies fuel to the engine, nor the size of the engine, nor the size of the vehicle that the engine is powering. Don't fall for it.
Keep your tires properly inflated, do not run the AC, do not accelerate hard, and keep your top speed at 65 or lower. These are the only things you can do to make your car operate at it's peak fuel efficiency.

Any mechanic worth his salt will tell you this will cause more harm than good.
An internal combustion engine requires X amount of fuel/ air mixture, compressed at a certain ratio (depending upon the size of the engine) to make that get the required "explosion" in order to power the engine. Adding this or that chemical will probably hurt your engine more than anything.

He told me that he has been putting 1.5 ounces of pure 100% acetome per 10 gallons of gas into his truck. He said he went from 16MPG to 23MPG overnight.
Thats sounds almost too good to be true. I will let you guys know how it turns out.
He told me my DODGE RAM will go from 17 to at least 25 with this acetome.
We will see. Anything is worth a try.

I assume you mean acetone, which is the main ingredient of nail polish remover. Nail polish remover has additives, so you must mean pure acetone from a paint store.
I doubt this would work.

Yep, thats it.
I bought a gallon at a hair care store. Its the same stuff that removes nail polish. Dont know if it works or not. I will find out once I empty my tank.
My friend says it works great. He has been doing it for years. I never felt the risk/reward ratio was high enough for me to put nail polish in a 20K truck, but now that we are pushing $4 a gallon I have now reached the point of giving this thing a try.

Some coin collectors use it on coins ( for cleaning, but it is generally not advised, unless you know what you are doing). They insist on 100% pure acetone, not nail polish remover, then they rinse it in distilled water.
They get it at hardware stores, maybe a Wal-mart paint dept. I would make sure its pure.
My thought is fuel injector cleaner every once in awhile would be better.
I don't see how acetone boosts octane, I think this improvement is from cleaning, and does nothing on the next few tanks.
I wouldn't do it, unless I see some science behind it.
Research it before you do it.

Reading from this link that you posted im pretty pumped up.
If you read most of the post, the ones that tried it says it works great with results very much like my friend says.
Most of the ones that say it does not work are the ones that have never tried it before.
There are a few people that said they tried it and got nothing, but I would say 70% of the people in that thread say it works.

I think it is a fallacy because an engine is precisely calibrated by the delivery system for a specific fuel/air mixture formulation, be it injectors or carburetion. This system dispenses a fixed amount of liquid fuel for air volume with variance based upon engine sensor systems. This calibration remains the same without regard to the nature of the liquid component chemistry. The two possible and opposite results of formula change: Pre-ignition is actively suppressed through spark timing retardation or an incomplete combustion chemical reaction due to the acetone. Either of these effects translate to worse efficiency, poorer mileage, more exhaust contaminates. This is why the fuel additive game by itself is bogus. If the engine was recalibrated for the changed liquid formulation, only then could a possible gain be achieved. Acetone will probably adversely affect the seals, gaskets, and hoses in the fuel system as an added concern.

I believe that it does indeed improve fuel efficiency. However, ONLY put it in your tank when you are going to use the WHOLE tank within 2 days for instance. Maybe for a long trip, put it in your tank.
I believe that it almost HAS to clean everything out. And that will improve your fuel eff. But after you add it, it will stay at the increased level whether you add anymore or not for 6 months or so. In other words, just add it once every 6 months or so and ONLY add it when you will use the whole tank in one trip or 2

Don't do it.
If you simply want to clean your carburetor or fuel injectors, then spend a little money on some STP Gas Treatment or similar item. (Wal-Mart's version was $0.94 last time I checked.)
There simply is no chemical, compound, or magic elixir that you can add to gas to increase fuel efficiency.
