Notre Dame , NBC agree to 5-year deal through 2015

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP)—Notre Dame is renewing its television contract with NBC.

The university and NBC announced Thursday they have agreed to a five-year deal that runs through the 2015 season. The current contract was scheduled to expire in 2010.

This contract includes seven homes games per season. It allows for the first time an eighth off-site home game played at a neutral stadium.

NBC has broadcast Irish football since 1991.

How about their 2012 game in Ireland vs the naval academy that will be counted as a home game for Navy.

No matter how bad of a team they put on the field, ND still gets the big ratings and money.

Not sure about the score, i was watching the SEC Championship game which featured the vols and someone else from the west. I dont think bama was invited.

Re: Notre Dame , NBC agree to 5-year deal through 2015

why are they so scared to get in a conference? bc they suck...

What does ND gain by joining a conference? Right now it doesn't have to split any of its TV revenue, and has an easier path to a BCS bowl than any team in a conference.

But yeah, clearly it's because they suck and are scared. Smart comment.

ND is embarrassing to be honest. They want revenue from basketball, they try to get teams to play on neutral fields for their 'road' games. I cant stand them. They're so arrogant that is makes it fun rooting against them. I had to love them for 3 years, im glad that, that is no longer the case.

Who wants to watch this team who is SCARED to get in the Big Ten and with their overrated fat ass coach...ND sucks. What a awful deal...hell UT Vols would draw a better viewing %...in fact most all SEC schools would 91023i2ndw;l

I don't know. They only sell out every road game, and are the only team who can get a national gig on tv.

Hogan - no one cares about the SEC in the midwest and the Big 10 area. TV numbers prove that out.

Re: Notre Dame , NBC agree to 5-year deal through 2015

That's basically the product of wanting to maximize profits on road games. Didn't want to play Rutgers on the road on campus when a stadium that seats 20,000 more is nearby.

Don't necessarily agree with what they've been doing this decade, but still the most popular team around. Going there for a football weekend and walking around campus and soaking in the atmosphere (spirituality included) is enough to make a fan of alot of people.

Have a game with Baylor at the Superdome coming up too. Funny, people would bitch if they played this in South Bend, and now they bitch at their road games.

You better watch what this guy(Weis) is doing. How the hell do you think he had the 2nd highest rated recruiting class coming off the worse Notre Dame season ever? His good looks? He gets this team going again and its all over, the recruits will come running and what he throws away, will be what the other teams pick up. Name me the last team that went 3-9 and had their worse season in school history and still recruited 2nd highest in the nation? Just wait, boys, this program is gonna be scary.
