Re: Bill 5767 doesn't get out of House committee
Well, it's pretty scary for a lot of reasons. The King amendment was supported by all of the banking interests and many gaming interests.
If the banking lobby couldn't bring any significant Republicans on board for this, what chance does any purely gaming related bill have? I hear there was a very negative letter from the minority whip Roy Blunt that the town idiot Bacchus kept referencing as some sort of authority. Apparently the orders came down from the leadership to vote against this thing, something very unusual for a committee vote.
The Religious Retards still have more pull in the Republican party than common sense and the banking lobby. That's the bottom line.
I also heard there were three Dems and one Republican missing.
With a couple of exceptions, Paul and King for the Republicans, and Waters and maybe one or two others for the Dems, the vote was party line. Remember that in November! Anyone who still doesn't believe the Republicans aren't the driving force behind the anti-gambling bills is fooling themself.
