How about the fans? If we stopped buying tickets, then maybe they would have to start doing something different to get you to the park

Re: Who is to blame for high ticket prices?

Maybe the questions should be who should be blamed the most. The fans are going to always buy tickets. The leagues go on strike, raise prices, athlete's get arrested, tickets still sell. The agents are in business to make money for their clients. The players are going to get as much as they can from the owners.

I believe the owners need to shoulder the biggest amount of blame. The owners are the ones writing the checks. It seems as though there's always an owner or two who always try to buy the best team out there.

This will make me sound freakin ancient but....I remember when the best seats at Memorial Stadium were 5 bucks (the blue tickets).

There use to be Junior Oriole club you could go to like 10 games for 13 dollars.

'Baseball bargain night' was another Memorial Stadium special, upper reserve seats were $1.50

Here ya go JMAN. At the Astro's games you can still get a ticket for a $1 for a kid. I can remember having season tickets to the Oilers in the early 90's. I had two seats on the lower level, around the 25 yard line, and recall the tickets were about $25 each. Not bad by today's prices.

wow a buck? :pop:

something else that I find annopying but understand the reasons behind it...they now sell select team tickets for more money...if NY or Bos come to town the price is higher, just crazy how lopsided MLB is....don't get me started.

what a joke...no WS victory by NY or BOS should go down without an asterisk next to it , post 1995.

Re: Who is to blame for high ticket prices?

I thought it was the Astro's who were raising the prices for those two series but I was advised it was done by MLB. Kinda shitty if you ask me. As usual though, both of those series were sold out before the season started.

Re: Who is to blame for high ticket prices?

Players drove the salaries after winning free agency. Affordibility for the average fan changed on that day.

I can remember back to 50 cent kids tickets in the Dodger Stadium bleachers. But now Devil is going to come in saying that he remembers when the Giants used to pay fans 4 bucks to watch the games at the polo grounds...

The suckers and hero-worshippers who call themselves fans, because they never get tired of handing out the cash to their favorite team. Example: Fortunes being charged in Dallas just for the right to buy season tickets?

That PSL crap has been going on for years now. People don't care though. What I always hated about having NFL season tickets was they made you buy tickets for the pre-season games.

No one is to blame. The prices are not high at all as long as we have sellouts

The consumers. Aftger one strike, a picther who was paid $3,000,000 gladly accepted $300,000.

Do a Deep Space Nine. People stopped attending overpriced baseball games.

The fans, without a question. They pay it, right? As a side note, I have stopped going to games, haven't been there live in 3-4 years. And I have a lot to choose from here, being just a few miles and minutes away from the Marlins, Heat & Dolphins. Tell them to keep the $30 parking, $6 cold hot dogs & $7 warm beers, too.
I can afford to go........it's just my personal statement. I don't miss it anywhere near as much as I thought I would, don't miss it practically at all.

Re: Who is to blame for high ticket prices?

Baseball ticket prices are cheap when compared to NFL ticket prices.

It is supply and demand, as long as people attend games prices will stay at current levels or a little higher. If people stop attending prices will drop.

Check out on what prices are on Stubhub for the last game at Yankee Stadium - people will pay ridiculous amounts of money to see a game they want.
