I don;t like the stock market. They don't have debit card payouts or tennis lines.

Looks if the 8000 on the DOW is coming sometime soon to your door IMO.

No shit? You think it goes that low huh? I am not looking to time the bottom perfectly, but don't want to be left out whenever it does recover.

Re: The stock market is still falling fast...

any thoughts on when one should get back in?

I wish I knew. Maybe never. I have no faith in stocks at this point. I read an article last week that said the true correction point of the Dow will be around 7500.

Unfortunately, yes I think it can tank to the 8000 level. We are coming up on earnings reports and they are likely to look like shit. I'd start dollar averaging-in around the 9000 if you can handle some risk, otherwise, just sit tight until 8000.

Exactly how many of you really feel any of this? We will never lose everything because that means the fat cats will too, and that ain't gonna happen. In the meantime, I've removed all my cash from several banks and am holding onto it in my house safe until the mess brought on by Barney Frank and Obama's two investment friends blows over (no, not until Frank blows the two crooks).

Yeah dollar averaging is a great idea at that level I think. I can handle plenty of risk, just as long as the market goes up eventually which i think it will sometime in next ten years. Not putting all in at once though a good idea in troubling time so a guy has funds to average down. Good thought.

Re: The stock market is still falling fast...

now down almost 750 points and down to its lowest level in 5 years

amazingly enough the dollar is at a 14 month high against the euro and a 30 month high against the pound

When will these people learn about sports gambling?

Stock market trading doesn't even get you free drink tickets.

Love it when the stock market tumbles. You can hear the fear and pain in all those yuppies, and their stomachs are just churning out the acid at toxic rates! God love them, but most deserve it after manipulating the system and getting away with it for years, and selfishly trying to destroy our economic stability for their own gain. "Off with their heads" would be a more appropriate, more humane punishment.

Re: The stock market is still falling fast...

unfortunately though it's not just the "yuppies" that suffer when the stock market gets creamed.
real jobs are going to be lost (many already have been), stores are going to start closing left and right, office space is going to be all supply and no demand, etc etc.

so if we could just pick out the "rich scumbag yuppies" and make them suffer i might be all for it, however, that is impossible.

and quite a few of us have a lot of money in the stock market, losing 8% last week and another 7% today is no fun.

the casinos like mgm, wynn, lvs are trading as though the world is coming to an end. they traded this way after 9/11 too, which turned out to be a great entry point.
i like mgm at 17 here, i would avoid lvs and i'm neutral on wynn fwiw.

Nothing amazing, Euroland in big troulbe with the banking system-from ours of course-they also have an economy that is failing, as well. You will also see interest rates drop from the current 4.25% as the ECB must deal with the slowdown and worldwide credit crisis.

Re: The stock market is still falling fast...

My stocks actually just GAINED back some of their losses. Maybe a mini correction.

Re: The stock market is still falling fast...

capitulation!!
with how everyone was indiscriminately selling anything and everything, we got a huge bounce just to torture those panic sellers.

mgm all the way back from 17.01 to 19.56 - 15% move!
mos all the way back from 31.43 to 37.63 - 20% move!

those 2 are still cheap imho and i wouldn't want to be the guy selling mgm down at 17 just to watch it come back big time within minutes.

only things i bought today were mos and cde, both of which came back nicely (like almost everything).
good luck everyone, takes balls of steel and stacks of cash - just like sports betting/poker (2 other things i love).

Re: The stock market is still falling fast...

As in sports gambling, so goes the stock market on the Internet.

Anonymity will be right ever time.

Funny how that happens.

Re: The stock market is still falling fast...

who was right every time?
if you're talking about me, i posted my mgm "pick" when it was at 17.

and you can follow the other picks i've given out here, some of which i've taken a bath on like meca, mpel, and jrn.

tough economic times when even well-run casinos have a hard time making money...

Re: The stock market is still falling fast...

And back up to 10 DIMES...

Honestly been on the sidelines for most of this, daytrading here and there, but missed out on most the correction staying with cash in much, GUH...
