From 1971-1998, Alabama went 14-0-1 at Baton Rouge. Lately, the series
hasn't been so kind to the Crimson Tide. LSU has won seven of the last
eight against Bama. The lone loss came in 2002, when Bama whipped Nick
Saban's LSU squad 31-0 in Baton Rouge. LSU has enjoyed success in this
decade unlike anything the program has experienced before. Meanwhile,
Alabama was trying to figure out how to deal with NCAA sanctions and a
revolving door of coaches. Now, the two teams appear to be on equal
footing. No. 15 LSU (6-2) has lost to Georgia and Florida, but the Tigers
have struggled to stop most of the teams on their schedule. Even Auburn's
spread offense looked decent against LSU.
No. 1 ranked Alabama ranks first in the SEC in run offense and run defense.
LSU will load the front and make John Parker Wilson beat them. They will
do everything they can to stop the run. Bama will put heat on quarterback
Jarrrett Lee who has thrown 10 interceptions. If Bama can get in Lee's head
early, then the Tide will walk in this one. (31-17)

Thru the years of coaching, I developed a keen eye for recognizing my teams weakness. It was evident to me early on that LSU was going to have a defensive problem especially in the back seven. It took teams like Fla and Ga who have big spread athletes to expose LSU's problems. Alabama does not have tose types of atheletes.They prefer to knock you off the ball and score on 12 play drives. LSU can matchup w/ those type teams. Also, J P Wilson is not a Tebow or Strafford! LSU will be able to win the game if they can pick up the Blitz package. Thru the yrs LSU RBs have been able to block and pick up the blitz. That is where the game will be decided! If they do, then LSU who has beter skilled atheletes in this one, will be the team scoring on big plays. LSU is 21-23-3 in day games since 1960, but their record as a home dog is solid and it will be dark midway in the third quater. LSU wins in another instant classic. 27-24 GL

The people picking Bama in this one are doing so based on Bama's record and ranking. Take a look at the past four years and you'll see that Bama has brought a good record and ranking into all those games against LSU.....and lost them all. Plus, Bama tends to slide in the weeks after the LSU game, which may interest bettors for the weeks to come. Bama's team this year hasn't done a single thing to make me believe they are going to cruise past LSU. Bama is solid on defense, runs the ball predominantly and has had a positive turnover margin. Those are keys to winning, but that ain't scary. And, those are all things that LSU matches up with. So, with Bama's conservative blueprint for gameplanning and the Tigers' matchup advantage, I'll take the home underdog.

Agree with cdub.....

Bama doesn't have the speed that Fla and UGA has, so this is a better match up for them

Both Bama and LSU can be thrown on, and that's where the advantage lies for Bama with the better QB (Wilson)

Rumor now has it that Saban may throw the game in Baton Rouge to help stop all the bad feelings and leave the state without getting hurt.After all he knows how crazy them coonasses can be.

LSU is going to be whipped into a frenzy over this game. The LSU fan base feels slighted by Nick Saban's leaving and then his reappearance at a rival school. To be honest, I can't really blame them.

LSU and it's fans have renewed their hatred for Alabama since Nick Saban arrived. It's my opinion that hatred has it's roots in fear. LSU fears what can happen with Nick Saban at the helm of the University of Alabama because they know first hand that Nick Saban is a very gifted college football coach. He simply has IT... They also know that Alabama has dominated LSU with lesser head coaches than Nick Saban.

Now back to my original point... LSU is going to be whipped into a frenzy for this game. It's my opinion that this will lead to mistakes because, without a doubt, Alabama is going to be the team that is calm, cool, and collected.... in other words POISED. Just like is has been all season long.

If Alabama can weather the initial storm from LSU, limit the mistakes (turnovers and penalties), and then put pressure on LSU's young, INEXPERIENCED QB, then Alabama should be able to win this game by at least 7 to 10 points.

Appreciate the different points of view...really good ones.

It's halftime and first chance I've had to review...got over thirty people over
for a gamewatch party with a card game to follow.

If our QB pulls another 'Hey look at me stunt' we will shoot the bastard.
Kid is a senior and gets a 15 yarder for sillyness. Good game so far.

It's difficult to win in the SEC on the road especially a team like LSU.

Bama won and we move on....LSU played their hearts out....no shame
when you give your best.

Florida is good, fast, fast, fast....but these little slow Bama boys can
play some defense.

This advice wouldn't serve me well in College.. But in the NFL yes.

My big plays in College have fared extremely well.. NFL not so much.
