Just signed a pitcher to a 38 million dollar contract.

Any thoughts on the Royals trying to buy a title?

So, the Royals get kudos for spending and some other teams (who we won't mention) get CRUCIFIED (by many) for doing the same exact thing the Royals are getting kudos for?

Help me out here fellas, what am i missing?

Great sign, and they got him relatively cheap also. And better yet, they were able to construct in a sensible financial manner. He gets most of the money the last two years, after Guillen and Meche are off the books. Dayton Moore gets it. Slowly improving and they are thinking outside the box. Even trying Teahen at 2nd base this year. That is going to be odd to picture a tall dude like him at 2nd, but that would be a damn good bat for a 2nd basemen if he can play the position and he should be a good enough athlete to do so, although learning to turn the two could and will be problematic most likely.

surely your not comparing the Yanks spending to the royals signing greinke.

you know, players should stay with the same teams, whenever possible. thats one thing wrong..

there should always be a minimum salary cap, as well as a max...

the royals know this could be their year, why not go for it.

Title? Did you really just say KC Royals and title in the same sentence?

Greinke's agent called my aunt the other day and asked about renting out their summer home. He's going to stay there over the next month or so.

did the royals buy player that another team developed or just kept another team from bidding higher for a player that they developed----buy a title that's just stupid

It doesn't matter who developed the guy. He's worth 38 million on the open market, anyone could have offered him a penny more. He went with the highest bidder like everyone else does.

Is it really a big difference? Does it really matter all that much if KC paid a guy who was already on their team or they paid 38 mil to a player from someone else's team?

Not sure you can possibly sound more stupid than you are in this thread. For one, he wasn't even a free agent so no, someone couldn't offer a penny more. It was an extension. Doesn't seem you are always this clueless. Just say uncle on this ludicrous argument already.
