i know what you are saying. If the Boston Red Sox were doing what the Yanks are doing, i would just stop watching cold turkey and never watch another game again. I'd say siyonara to baseball and never forgive them....so, i can see if what the yanks are doing is turning people off, i can totally understand if they never watch another game.

yes it does, at age 37...

I wouldn't give him 25M at that age....and with his propensity to take weeks off, of course it makes sense.

You guys don't get it. Boras can't accept it after getting the Dodgers to not pick up the two years at $40 MM left on the original contract. Boras would look like a fool, and Manny is getting very bad advice right now.

Boras is making these decisions quite possibly. Borases image rests solely on him not leaving ANY money on any table for any player. If you are a Boras client, you are a client of his with the understanding that you will play for the team who offers the most money. If Boras feels that Manny will get a better deal with someone else, than who are we to argue?

How is 25 million for one year too much for Manny? Mark Teixeira is HALF the hitter Manny is. Manny deserves whatever he is offered.

Why do people have such a problem with athletes getting paid so much. They're PAID as much as they are earning for the teams. What don't people understand. The owners will POCKET the money if the athletes don't get it.

If you have a problem with it then stop going to the games, watching them on TV, or talking about them here. They get what they earn, just like any other job in the world. Why should they be any different?

He knows Manny has a market, he's as a good as any hitter in baseball when he wants to play, so he definitely can wait it out.

It's not like Manny had a bad yr.

I still got no clue what the hell are you saying. This is one of those Jman threads that you can bump that you said he should have signed,shouldnt have signed,someone got screwed, someone got a great deal.


Lets play Jman is general manager of any team in baseball.

Would you sign Manny to a one year 25 million dollar deal? If the answer is no than you are not getting Manny as he has turned it down( which seems to be what you are saying when you keep saying factor in his age.)


If its yes than you put up with his taking weeks off and his weirdness and hope he hits like he did the 2nd half of last season.

I guess I am , but I didn't mean to be...I have always talked very highly of Manny, always.

If I were the Dodgers I wouldn't sign him for one yr....the question is too broad though.

At the same time one yr is the way to go, I can see why both sides are doing what they are. It could cost both millions if it doesn't workout for various reasons....obviously he can still play at close to his prime.

They should go after Sheets and hope he can give them one healthy year and sign a guy like Abreau.
