Awaiting a cancer diagnosis, it can't get much harder than this.

Someone very close to me is about to get results that could mean he's clean or he could possibly have less than a year to live.

Melanoma results 4pm today.

I can't imagine that kind of pressure.

thanks man...there is nothing worse...and you don't really know what to say, but you have to act like it will be okay, knowing they are scared .

This one is Melanoma, guy had it taken out (finally) but he waited way too long, and now they are not sure if it spread or not....So today he finds out if or how much.

Could be nothing, could be real bad.

Yep, I am sitting there listening to him talk about his job, and thinking into the future, when in 24 hours he will find out if his life could be ending a lot sooner than normal....yesterday was a really strange day....one minute everyones find the next, it all changes....all from something that grows on your skin one day? Just hard to grasp.

Re: Awaiting a cancer diagnosis, it can't get much harder than this.

Interesting...where did the one-year diagnosis come from? If it has spread have they already told your friend it is Stage 4? Stage 3? And where exactly has it spread to that they don't know that they would diagnose he has a year to live?

Oncologists are a strange bunch no? Just throwing around random life expectancies yet they don't even know whether or not the cancer has spread or even where it might have spread to.

Hope the best for your friend.

The actual stage has not been determined yet, he'll find out today, from what I have read online it appears to have been pretty advanced on the surface, just not sure yet if it spread.

It was a mole, that grew and grew, he never got it checked for over a yr (which was really dumb) It finally got to the point it started bleeding (more months passed)

So he goes to the doctors, another month passes before they even take it out, telling him they didn't think it was Melanoma...it turns out it was. So now they want to go deeper, and depending on his PET Scan results more operations....It really depends how much or if it has spread to the lymph or even worse another organ.

Skin cancer is tricky, but one of the least lethal. You get lung, rectal or colon cancer say your prayers. I quit drinking beer because beer drinkers have a 4X incident rate as non beer drinkers. Crapping into a bag not my idea of a way to go out in life. You sure don't look banned J Man. My prayers to your friend.

Best Wishes...OF :+waving-5

Never heard that one Frog, 4 Xs? Wow.

Yeah skin cancer is usually beatable, unless you wait and it turns out being Melanoma, than it can be real bad.

You said it, sure puts things in perspective...

I don't have much experience with tragic news close to me, my GF died of cancer a long time ago, but not much else.

I remember having to put my shepherd to sleep

Shit ... I would rather have sat next to Rush Limbaugh for 15 hrs on a plane
ride to Australia than walking her into the "final destination room"

I'm going for a long motorcycle ride shortly, to clear my mind some.

The weather's pretty decent here , may as well take advantage of it.

My mom recovered totally from a melonoma prognosis about 10 years ago. Had it removed and got lucky. Think positive, it can't hurt.

You guys buying this shit?

He throws out cancer and you just don't want to belittle the situation but I would imagine this is one of Egg Yolk Soup's ideas - I would wager all his friends are in stellar health
