They should have hired Crean. Crean made a mistake leaving Marquette when he did, but no one would have blamed him if he left for Kentucky then. They didn't offer him the job. Dumb decision.

I know a guy who is well connected to the school and he says the goodbye from coach to team has already taken place.

Re: Quick Rise and Fall: Gillespie OUT in Lexington

if he wasnt such an arrogant asshole, he'd still have a job. but if you're going to try and be modern day bob knight at a school like kentucky, you better fucking win.

I'm a big fan of Billy G. Can't argue with the lack of results though.

He will get another shot somewhere else and do well. He's a very good recruiter and a great guy.

Good idea saying bye bye to tubby, they've been no where without em it seems?

Re: Quick Rise and Fall: Gillespie OUT in Lexington

he says the goodbye from coach to team has already taken place.

Was it via text message like it was when he left A&M?

He's a great coach, but he's not a good fit at a school that is going to get the 5* NBA-bound-and-they-know-it talent. He needs kids that are going to hustle 100% and buy-in to the team concept. You aren't going to see many Mcdonald's All Americans willing to forgo their future for the sake of the "team".

I'm worried he'll be coming back to the Big 12 somehow.
