You ever been thrown out of a bar?

There is this local bar I go to and watch games.

Well, after SB me and a buddy went in after the game. There was a guy at the end of the bar just plowed and was fucking with us.

So, I took part in a little smack talk, mostly joking. Remember, I know the owner fairly well and all the patrons that frequent there on Sundays for the games.

Anyways, while I have never met this other guy, I was joking with him back and forth about stupid shit. WEll, the bartender tells me to cut the shit or leave. So, i cut it out for the most part.

But am still talking to the guy, he is at the other end of the bar, and the place is dead, just us 3 there.

He told us to leave or he was calling the cops. I said, cool, he was wound tight that night for sure.

Well, fast forward a few weeks. I see him again and he is plowed, we had words and he said maybe it would be better if you didnt come in on my shift, ok, whatever. He works Friday nights/Sunday nights. I am rarely in there on those days.

Anways, go in this past Friday with a chick. I walk up to order drinks and he says...." What are you doing here?" I was like, uh, ordering a drink. He said i'm not oging to serve you....he was a total dick about it.

All along to, I have spoke to the owner and things have been settled so I thought.

Make a long story short, or vice versa I get a letter from the owner yesterday apoligizing. Now I feel like a douche, it wasnt that big a deal, yea the guy's a dick, but we can all be at times.

How would you guys handle this?

why would you test the guy and embarrass yourself in front of your escort?

Re: You ever been thrown out of a bar?

If the prick is going to 86 you, then just do it. Don't hit at it & then put you in a bad spot-that's totally out of line. Just to be a dick, I'd demand an apology from the bartender.

Re: You ever been thrown out of a bar?

:+textinb3

He was a cop in a neighboring Village, but got fired. Now he is a rent-a-cop at a local bank branch

There it is...the guy is bound to be a dick.

If he gives you a hard time next time let him know that you've spoken to the owner and you're not banned from the bar. I would say something like: "You're a fucking bartender, not the owner. I know this because I've spoken to the owner about you and she apologized to me. I'm the customer. I'm always right. Pour my fucking drink and shut the fuck up."

I can't stand dudes on power trips. He's an ex cop, so he's probably just looking for a reason to puff his chest out and look like a tough guy. So, I'd make him feel as dumb as possible. How about: "Whoa....what are you, the drunk police?.....nope...wait...not the police anymore, huh? How does that make you feel?"

Re: You ever been thrown out of a bar?

I've been in bars for a long time. On both sides. Based on the bartenders behavior, you probably said some wise ass shit to him that night after the superbowl, or generally acted as if what he said to you didn't mean shit because "you know the owner".

A former police officer would be very sensitive to disrespect, a lot more than some 19 year old co-ed who just laughs and comes looking for her $$$$ on the bar.

The letter from the owner only means she still wants your $$$$. If the guy still works there, it indicates that you probably had some responsibility for the situation.

How drunk were you and your friend that night?

Maybe you are the one who should be apologizing.

Just offering some perspective. I could be wrong. He could just be some whacko randomly booting out people, in which case, I doubt he survives in the business very long.

Being tough with troublesome customers is often a desirable quality, especialy in a bar thats a little rough around the edges.

I bet that if you take the high road with the " hey I think we got off on the wrong foot, maybe I was....blah blah..." everything will be cool.

Otherwise, no one can force someone to serve you alcohol. Don't go in during his shiifts, and wait for him to get fired(if he's really an asshole).

LOL.....I think I love you.

Cop to bartender has "bad news" written all over it(let alone if the guy is a flunky rent-a-cop during the day & has to bartend at night to make ends meet). It's probably pretty tough to lose that cop power trip & attitude, and it's only going to be that much worse having to sling booze to people.

If you really want to be a dick, walk up to the place & knock on the door like you would a house. When he answers it, drop a "Am I allowed in today, princess?" on him. You're pretty big-just be ready to throw a haymaker if need be. :smackdown

Re: You ever been thrown out of a bar?

Greetings:

The Munchkin Man has been thrown out of a bar one time.

The Munchkin Man was sitting up at the bar, drinking Martinis, eating a big plate of Spaghetti, and watching an ODU basketball game on television.

After the Munchkin Man's 3rd Martini, the Munchkin Man got up off his bar stool and proceeded to walk to the bathroom.

The Munchkin Man did not know that one of his shoelaces was untied.

The Munchkin Man tripped on his shoelaces and fell right smack down on his face onto the bar room floor.

One of the bar employees then came over and helped the Munchkin Man get up.

Then he told the Munchkin Man that the Munchkin Man had too much to drink and that he was calling a taxi home for the Munchkin Man.

The Munchkin Man was sore with scrapes and bruises for several days after that fall.

The Munchkin Man could have probably driven home.

It was only a two-minute drive away.

But it is probably just as well that the Munchkin Man didn't.

The Munchkin Man's Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) was probably close to 0.08 and too high to risk a random stop and sobriety check.

The bar employee was doing his job and did the right thing.

At the age of 59 years old, this was the only time the Munchkin Man has ever had to leave a bar.

I have been kicked out once.....for fighting.....but so many police showed up so fast, wasn't that much action anyways.....lame...

BB, leave, there are other places to go....

Re: You ever been thrown out of a bar?

I've never been thrown out of a bar, but have thrown people out, as a bartender. I have been thrown out of casinos, though !

Re: You ever been thrown out of a bar?

Avoid the place--I'm sure you've been kicked out of much nicer places. Take your money someplace else; if the guy's an asshole, the owner won't let him stay around long and chase off her money. If he's not, the asshole might be in the mirror and some time needs to pass before they're ready to deal with you again (time heals all wounds).
You don't want to get into some three-way BS between the owner, the bartender, and you; your hand isn't that strong. Sooner or later, some night at that bar you are going to be feelin' it, and for whatever reason the cops will be there--guess who takes the ride? It's just not worth it.

Re: You ever been thrown out of a bar?

As a bar owner ( I'm not).... I wouldn't hire an ex-cop to tend bar. I'd want to hire the best looking female bartender I could ( and hope she doesn't rip me off too badly !) I'd want a hottie, with personality, showing some skin, flirting with the (mostly) male customers.

I only got in ( graveyard shift) on Lower Fremont St, because of people I knew.

Hire the hot girl, not the ex-cop. Lots of illegal things go on at bars.... like drug deals, nearly everybody leaving drunk, and driving. You don't need some ex-cop tending bar. That guy would have to have a great personality.

Personality is really the key ingredient. Any idiot can mix OJ and vodka together, you have to get along with the customers, give them what they desire, and read them. If the guy wants to quietly read the newspaper, and drink, leave him be. If he's mesmirized with the video poker machine, leave him in his trance

If the customer wants to talk, talk to them. Give them what they want, don't talk to newspaper guy, or VP guy, just glance over, and refill their drinks, when they look ready for another.... esp. the VP guy, just keep comping him drinks, all night long...if he's in that "VP trance".

I've gone to work for a shift ( like 11pm-7am), and some of these same people are still there, when I was relieved by the day guy.

Re: You ever been thrown out of a bar?

I tried the old water under the bridge, didn't work with this guy. Dude, it was innocent fun is all. Thing is he doesn't know me well.

Not one other bar tender has a problem with me, at least I don't think so.

I' m not the first to complain about this guy.

But what is done is done. I spoke with other bartenders and told them I may have come across to agressive but I was just kidding and told him the same shit.

He's just a little punk with little man syndrome......gotta flex his authority, but that's cool
