Wed May 13 - MUST SEE Game Tonite

winkyduck

TYVM Morgan William!!!
looking at the sked tonite there is ONLY ONE "MUST SEE" game tonite and it is very obvious which one

4P (PDT)/7P (EDT) - on Versus (maybe local outlets will show the game in the Pitt/DC area)

Pens @ Caps

END OF DISCUSSION

for those who have marveled at how AWESOME this series has been so far you know i am 100% right

for those who haven't seen any - or much - tonite it is time to atone for your sins. we have had six CLASSIC games - 3 going to OT - and if not the 2 best players in the NHL 2 of the top 3 or 4 in Crosby and Ovie - 2 players who have come to play this series

we have MLB tonite. we have a boring Dallass @ Denver hoops game tonite

YOU HAVE NO VALID EXCUSE FOR MISSING TONITE'S GAME - NONE!

it doesn't happen often but even ESPN acknowledges the importance of this game and sent Steve Levy and Barry Melrose to the game

DO NOT MISS THIS GAME - YOU WILL KICK YOURSELF AFTERWARDS IF YOU DO!

Re: Wed May 13 - MUST SEE Game Tonite

this game starts 2 hours earlier than the hoops game

so you are gonna watch the first 2 periods of this great game and miss 3P so you can watch 1Q and maybe part of 2Q of den/dallass?

Yep...I'll switch back and forth. Not a big hockey fan but a big Nuggets fan. Probably put the hockey game on the comp to keep an eye on it.

Re: Wed May 13 - MUST SEE Game Tonite

Tonight's game is shown on local affiliates in the Pitt and Wash areas, local coverage also applies to tomorrow night's games also. After that, all Versus/NBC. This game should be great.

Anti-climax here and a disappointing result. Caps wun out of gas and two goals in less than 10 seconds ends the drama early. Theodore ends up back in the net as Vharlamov is pulled. Ovechkin is a great talen, but they need to find some defence to help him out. Congrats to the Pens.

The joke of this is that any US citizen needs to look for VERSUS (if they even get it). Gary Bettman and his cronies make the no-brain call years ago to be off the ESPN network, and there could be no bigger mistake for selling this game. Under his leadership there are empty buildings with teams bleeding money that he hopes to keep propped up (like Phoenix). He should have stayed in the NBA.

actually - that call was made by ESPN. ESPN had 1 year left on the deal when the NHL had the lockout. ESPN then said to the NHL, "Hasta la Vista, BABBBBEE" and sent them packing. they replaced the NHL with cheaper programming like Poker, College World Series 9and then Softball) and many other CHEAPER shows. it costs a ton of money to set up ana televise a live hockey game and you can't really show it a zillion times after that but how many times have we seen WSOP shows from 2004 - and on - mostly because espn owns the shows and can literally air them for free

the NHL "F'd" itself - and Bettman IS a moron - no one will dispute that but ESPN is NOT to blame here. when the NHL got a contract from Versus, ESPN's contract allowed them to match the offer to keep the NHL. ESPN suits couldn't stop laughing when the NHL came to them and told them to get lost

Phoenix is bleeding money for many reasons - they do NOT charge for parking - and should move. the NHL expanded into too many markets they had no business going into. they went to Anaheim and Miami because Disney and Wayne Huzienga (sp?) wanted to own teams and because new teams means mor ein expansion fees paid to owners. my feeling is the NHL called the NBA offices some time ago and the conversatuon went something like this:

NHL: WE are looking for our first-ever comminsh - got anyone there who might do a good job
NBA: (Saying this to themselves..........."Anyone here know who the biggest FUCK UP is - and someone we can get rid of ASAP?"......"What's that - Bettman - sounds good to me!") Yeah we have someone who would be PERFECT for the job - Gary Bettman
NHL: Is he any good and will he do a good job?
NBA: (Trying to hold back laughter) Yeah - he is the BEST - he is your man!
NHL: Cool - he's hired
NBA: Great HIRE! (then when they hang up the place bursts into laughter and high fives over the fact they got rid of Bettman)
