They get a overall 6 seed despite being ranked #1 in the nation last 6 weeks by all 5 polls. Why are they the 6 seed? because they are looking to fuck Irvine out of a super regional, if they made them the overall 1 like they were supose to they could not justify screwing them out of hosting a super regional.

In their regional they get to face ACC tourney champs 43-12 Virgina, defending NAtional Champs Fresno State who is red hot, well caoched and just won WAC tourney. Finally the best pitcher in college baseball history over at underrated Sandiego state.

Meanwhile, Fullerton gets to play 3 cupcakes against Utah, Gonzaga, and Ga Southern.

How is Texas the 1 seed? Maybe because they have a Big 12 AD as the committe chairman.

They won't have to worry about Stra because he won't pitch against them.

People are talking up Fresno because of what they did last year, but they blow this year. FSU won 21 of their final 25 and didn't even get a top 8 seed. They won the ACC outright, and lost in the conference title game. They got hosed.

Virginia is a tough draw, but Fresno State stinks.

Without a doubt...saw those pairings come down while running at the gym and literally laughed out loud. They could have (should have) sent either Fresno State or SDSU back east to balance it out, but the powers that be, as always, want to limit the west coast teams advancing.

I think all texas teams stay in Texas too, and only three teams from east of the rockies comes west

Deputy Big 12 commissioner chaired the baseball selection committee. Tim Weiser was the AD at Kansas State-- he got the job done by getting 8 Big 12 teams in the tourney where Baylor has no business being it and there should be a question with Okie State (though a great team that has underachieved due to injuries).

Cal Irvine's regional is ridiculous. However I think Virginia has the big right to complain about being places as the two seed. Travel across the country, after winning the ACC and they get snubbed out of hosting. Their non con was easy but still a pretty good team that gets punished by travelling west to the #1 team in the country but not before facing the best pitcher in college baseball in the last 20 years.

Rail we have both complained about the committee for years--very skewed to the southern teams.

happens every year. the committee gets together and makes their #1 goal fucking over schools outside the N*SEC*AA/Big 12/ACC - espcially schools in the MDT/PDT - their equivalent of Siberia. Skip Bertman had to leave the committee because his jaw got tired from all the BJs" he gave committee members to get as many N*SEC*AA schools in as he could and get them all home regionals and set it up so that Omaha could be comprised of 8 N*SEC*AA schools

but every year the teams screw him because the N*SEC*AA schools usually get exposed for the frauds they are and LEGIT schools make Omaha and win it all

to me this is every bit as big a joke as CFB and the B(C)S - only fewer people get outraged because fewer people follow C-Bases than CFB

After looking into this further, it looks like Irvine is fortunate to even be a 6 seed. 17th in the RPI and played the 77th best schedule in the land. That is what shit conferences do. Play shit teams.

Not worried about history sir. This is the here and now and big 12 a really good deep league currently in every sport damn near, and sure as hell in baseball. Meanwhile Irvine league a crap mid major joke of a league.

Nevermind Royal Fan I found it. Interesting...Cal State Fullerton has won the CWS as many times in the past 30 years as all of the Big 12.

Big 12 hasn't even been around the past 30 years but it doesn't matter. This is the here and now and while Big West is good at the top, the league is garbage in general. You don't go anywhere on the road in the big 12 and have easy matchups like you do in that league.

Then I'd expect more than one Big 12 team to make the final 8 this year if the league is as deep and battle tested as you say....would you agree?

no, not necessarily. Lot of really good teams but not all elite ones. The point is better than the big west. Irvine not screwed. You want a high seed play someone and beat someone. Big 12 flat out beat big west head to head. And Irvine lost both games to the big 12 and after all that is what the discussion is about. If they got screwed or not.

Big 12 is solid this year-- watch out for Kansas State-- they have a great pitcher in A.J. Morris--maybe not as good as Strasberg but every bit as good as Leake or Berry. The wildcats have a shot of getting out of the Houston regional.

Riverside was 4-0 vs big 12, northridge swept Texas Tech. last time Irvine faced a big 12 in post season went into Round Rock and beat texas.

Irvine an out a way from sweeping Fullerton in Goodwin. swept Riverside and demolished Poly. spoke with the Poly people and they said IRvine by far best team they faced.

Aaron Fitt and other smart people which is all 5 major pools had Eaters #1.

You can cherry pick any stats you want, but bottom line is big 12 beat them head to head this year and Irvine is 0-2 and didn't even play the big 12's best. Big12>Big West and it is not close. Even with all the advantages they have weather wise etc. And this is baseball, other sports they really cannot stack up. Just a brutal conference in some sports.

Lot of injuries for them I believe throughout the year. Needs to be taken into account and they were not 7-19 in the leauge. Not sure why you state things that aren't true. They would not be in with 7-19 league record. This all being said, they were fortunate to be in, and some good out of conference wins got them in, like a win over CSF for example. Riverside should be in as well though. But goes back to playing in that shit conference. Not going to help you get in when you are playing the likes of Cal-Davis.

sure, Aztecs also have a nice closer that throws 95, their 2nd starter not bad either. They hit some too. Virgina is White hot and just won ACC tourney. Somebody hates Irvine? Maybe Eaters will win the Sears cup, they already have a Volleyball NAtional Championship. Track and womens tennis is also formidable. Coach Gillepsi already has a ring thanks to MArk Prior and Jauque Jones.
