What is not clear is if they are still keeping the parlay lottery format as well...

I know it's not a money making entity in the long run but I would think the average Joe would look at the 3-4 team odds first and sub even money second..

that is cool...but is there a more boring state in the country...

You and Daddy Shrink, may be a tad biased....

When it comes to this venture....boring is good. Guaranteed payout is nice on winners too. Not having to wait for a 3rd party processor and play "dodge ball"....is wonderfully boring.2348ji23e

If this is done right in Delaware..AC will die a slow death. Delaware has full table games included with the bill. May take 2 years to get fully rolling is my guess.

For those that know Delaware; where is the town of Smyrna? Is it all farming there? How close to Dover or Christiana, Del is it?

Something tells me it will be ready just in time for football season! I'm sure Billy Walters is already lining up people that live nearby (like the Shrink) so they can go on a few field trips for him.

South Dakota...

LOL, Best strip joints on the face of the earth. Hands down. 100% naked with couch performances for $20. Go ahead - match that! Haha. It's been downhill since the Deadwood gold rush for crime but it is starting to pick up again with the rotten economy.

Re: Ok...Who's Moving To Delaware??

The article did state Delaware would be hiring professional line makers. Wonder what that pays in Vegas.

Hey Green Doberman---Update your resume asap...... Delaware's Calling!

Hire some of the linesmakers from the 2005 NFL season - I am sure some of them have spent a few years looking for a new job. :)

Delaware is run by a businessman (current Gov). I've listenend to him on the radio. Now in this business the NAME of the game is Balance your books. We are talking about a STATE---REPEAT STATE using taxpayer money --IF__ they DON"T!

Question--Will they lay off to Vegas or (very very longshot to offshore)?????????

Re: Ok...Who's Moving To Delaware??

Another question is this. Will Delaware have -110 on each side........or, will it just be 'for entertainment purposes only' and lined at -130 for each side?

I wondered about this also. You would figure they could get away with a lot of vig on each side with it "after all being for the state". They probably will make the vig pretty bad and parlay odds especially will be horrible. Still though, the local degenerates with nothing else to do will be there every weekend walking up to the window.

Its the take it or leave it stuff at a buck 30. I doubt they are going to give players a chance to win. The suckers will still play at -130. or even -120, but their handle will suffer badly unless its a buck 10 and there's only a 30 cent or less lines on ML

At ridiculous vig.---why hire a professional linesmaker; the town drunk will be fine. But I don't know . Not long ago they didn't know even IF- straight bets COULD be offered. Now the article I read talked about money lines.

I think there is no way they are going to offer normal vegas lines at -110, i mean, why do they have to?

it won't make much difference. i don't see many people buying a house just to gamble. builders went nuts in the beach area buying every farm and building 3 br/2 bath houses down there, and can't sell them now. i saw a just started development outside milton that had a chain across the entrance last weekend. i am thinking it was foreclosed on. prices have gotten more reasonable the past year, and the property taxes are incredibly low.

Lived in DE most of life but move 5 minutes over DE line into PA a few years ago. Its actually perfectly situated between alot of things. You can get to nice DE beaches (we have place in Bethany Beach), AC, Washington, and even NYC all in 2 hours less drive. No sales tax and low property tax. Very underated state for sure.

Seriously doubt any entity in Delaware would consider any lay off. With the low limits they will offer to mostly squares, why wouldn't they keep everything for themselves?

Nevada allows layoff in-state but not legal over state lines.

I'm excited about it. Surely they will try to be as close to what Las Vegas offers to attract the gamblers. Their market potential in Del. is HUGE!

First table games to roll into casinos as early as January

Panel to recommend revenue, oversight rules

By JEFF MONTGOMERY
The News Journal
Poker games are expected in Delaware's three casinos as early as January, with a full suite of table gambling by March, officials said Friday in the first public meeting of the committee set up to expand gambling in the state.
The group is developing rules to regulate the greater security risk that arises from people running and playing the games instead of computers. Casino operators say security and labor costs could consume 50 percent of table game revenues for pay and benefits alone.
"The way it works in table games is people watching people watching people," said Ed Sutor, Dover Downs' chief executive officer and the casino industry's delegate to the committee.
"Unlike slots, which you can monitor electronically, you can't do that with table games. That's why it requires so many people," Sutor said.
Lawmakers left the choice of table games to casinos. Sutor said likely candidates include poker, blackjack, craps, roulette and a smaller-table variation on baccarat.
Gov. Jack Markell signed legislation on May 14 that declared the state's intent to allow table games "as soon as possible." The same measure authorized sports betting at Delaware's three casinos, raised state fees and its share of revenues from casino operations to 45 percent from 37 percent and ordered reports on the impact of authorizing additional casino and sports betting sites.
Under the law, the three-member Table Gaming Committee has until July 28 to recommend the division of table game revenues between the state and casinos and to recommend rules for oversight.
The other two members of the panel with Sutor are Finance Secretary Gary Pfeiffer and Controller General Russ Larson.
The group offered no estimates of potential revenue to the casinos or the state. Industry experts say table games bring in from 12 percent to 20 percent as much money as slot-machine revenue -- now worth more than $200 million a year to Delaware.
"We've got to make sure that whatever we decide for Delaware is fair, in the sense that it gives a competitive share for the casinos and the state is getting its fair share," Pfeiffer said.
West Virginia's racetrack table games have earned $17.3 million for that state during the first 10 months of its fiscal year, through April.
Sutor repeated earlier estimates that each of the state's three casinos would need about 250 more employees to manage the new business, with card dealers earning about $50,000 annually, including tips.
Delaware Technical & Community College is exploring training programs for table-game workers.
Pfeiffer said the state Lottery Office will need 40 to 50 new positions, possibly all state employees, to meet state oversight responsibilities. Actual staff needs could require "a 200 to 300 percent increase" in agency staffing.
"Table gaming has cash changing hands, chips and dice and cards and all those things that potentially could be dealt with in an inappropriate way by someone," he said, describing oversight as labor-intensive. "It's going to be a different universe from where we are with the video lottery."
Lottery officials are preparing a request for proposals from consultants to help the state set rules for the new forms of gambling. Interviews for sports-betting consultant services are scheduled for June 25 and June 26.
Larson said the state hiring requirements could "go over like a lead balloon" during the state's current budget crisis and spending-cut efforts.
"One of our outcomes has got to be a decision on how many different games we want to have, and how many different tables as a unit would be established at each of the three casinos," Larson said.
The group plans to meet next at 9 a.m. June 29 in Legislative Hall. Lawmakers have to vote on the recommendation for splitting revenues before table games can begin.
